The Independence Blue Cross Winterfest Returns With Ice Skating, S’more Stations, Tree Lighting & More
The waterfront will once again be transformed into a winter wonderland for the 30th Season of Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest. The festivities officially kick off on Black Friday, November 24 and will run through early 2024. To mark this anniversary season, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation and Independence Blue Cross have curated special 30th Anniversary events, activities, promotions, and a few extra surprises.
All of the guest favorite Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest traditions and activities will return which includes Philly’s only outdoor National Hockey League-sized ice rink, the 60-foot holiday-themed Ferris wheel, thousands of festive lights, s’mores kits to cook around the firepits, decorative heated cabins, the return of the Rinkside Lounge, and of course the Lodge with seasonal food and drink offerings. Last but not least, the Holiday Tree Lighting Powered by PECO will take place on Friday, December 1.
The annual New Year’s eve fireworks will take place on Sunday, December 31 with two shows at 6pm and midnight. DRWC’s signature New Year’s Eve Parties on Ice at Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest will also take place on Sunday, December 31
Cherry Street Pier, also celebrating an anniversary season with five years with their 5 year Extravaganza which includes artist exhibits and a halloween festival on October 27th from 5 pm to 8 pm. Guests can enjoy a Halloween-themed extravaganza where costumes are encouraged. Enjoy the spooky decor, along with a live performance curated by Shekhinah B. of The Women’s Coalition for Empowerment, Inc. Other entertainment includes a bouncy house maze, party games, course birthday cake (while supplies last), and other fun surprises.
