The Garden at Cherry Street Pier Returns With New Menu Options and Drinks

Sip and savor on the Philadelphia waterfront at one of Philadelphia’s largest and most beautiful outdoor eateries. FCM Hospitality announces the return of The Garden at Cherry Street Pier (121 N. Christopher Columbus Blvd.) starting April 16, 2022. The Garden is a sprawling, colorful and unique outdoor eatery and beer garden that features 20,000 square feet of space, seating for over 250 guests, outdoor tables, covering and shade, oversized games, lush greenery, colorful flowers, historic details, industrial vibes and picture perfect views. New Head Chef Miguel Angel Hernandez Mota is in the kitchen serving up a new menu focused around Mexi-Philly fare that includes the debut of Birria tacos.

From the bar, look for new and returning favorite frozen drinks, summer sips, cold beer and more. The Garden will open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00pm to 10:00pm, weather permitting. As the weather warms, The Garden will operate seven-days a week. The Garden is 21+ to enter. Children, families, and anyone under 21 are welcome to participate as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who has legal identification. Food and drink are pay-as-you-go. Seating is first come, first served.

The Garden is located on the water-facing side of Cherry Street Pier passed the open pods, local art and other small businesses. Once at the end of Cherry Street Pier, guests are greeted with open industrial ceilings allowing fresh air, warm sunshine and a welcoming waterfront breeze. Seating is first-to-come first-to-serve, with a mixture of picnic tables, cafe tables, and bar height seating with multicolored chairs and aesthetics. Seating inside The Garden offers several picturesque options, including seating facing the gardens and trees, seating with views of the Benjamin Franklin, and more private tucked away seating with perfect views of the water and adjacent boats just feet away in the river. All seating is shaded from the natural historic structure which currently exists that blends together raw and rough elements, including concrete and stone, iron beams, and historic details.

For 2022, The Garden introduces new Head Chef Miguel Angel Hernandez Mota who presents a menu that blends Philadelphia classics with some Puebladephia influences. For those not in the know, Puebladelphia refers to the large Mexican community in Philadelphia hailing from the region of Puebla.

“You can just taste it when you are eating something that the kitchen has put attention, time, and pride into creating,” said FCM Hospitality’s Special Events Director Neina Langford. “We can’t wait for guests to come and try this new menu, especially the Birria tacos.”

Guests can expect a menu that will range from crisp salads to savory handhelds like the Pueblahdelphia Cheesesteak (brisket, poblano rajas, onion, queso chihuahua, seeded long roll, chipotle mayo), and, of course, tacos. The anticipated crowd favorite is the gluten-free Birria, which includes braised brisket, queso mixto, cilantro, onion, toasted corn tortilla with side of consommé. Don’t forget to check out La Newyorkina Palettas, a Mexican style fresh juice ice pop in a variety of flavors from Pineapple Mint to Oaxacan Chocolate.

Beverages at The Garden will be beyond just beer. Beverage Director, Matt Deutsch, adds his signature touch by taking classic ingredients and elevating in an approachable, delicious way. Guests will want to keep an eye out for Adult Hibiscus Lemonade (infused hibiscus vodka and fresh lemonade), frozen margaritas with all homemade mixers, and a variety of local brews to sip on while at this stunning summer destination.

The Garden at Cherry Street will open with a limited weekend schedule to start on Saturdays and Sundays from Noon – 10 PM, weather permitting. Once the weather warms, The Garden will be open Monday to Friday, from 4:00pm to 10:00pm, Saturday 12:00pm to 11:00pm, and Sunday 12:00pm to 9:00pm.

Admission is free. The beer garden portion of Cherry Street Pier requires proper 21+ I.D. Children, families, and anyone under 21 are welcome to participate if they are accompanied by a legal guardian who has legal identification.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome and must always be on a leash. Food and drink are pay-as-you-go. Seating is first come, first serve.
