The CDC’s Newly Released Pool Guidelines Will Cause Some Very Unusual Tan Lines!
With all due respect for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the vast majority of us are over the quarantine mandates. We definitely don’t want to stay cooped-up in the house all summer. So while millions of Americans look forward to hitting the pool this summer, the CDC is making their own splash. Just recently Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released pool guidelines for attendees and staff to adhere during summer 2020. Let’s just say if you follow these rules, you’ll end up with an unusual tan line
That’s right the CDC is recommending that staff wear a face covering if they are outside. Yes, this includes life guards. Can you imagine what your face would look like after wearing a mask for several hours in the sun?
As for swimmers, the guidelines suggests that everyone stay 6 ft. apart (in and out of the pool) from those they do not live with. Also for planned events, the CDC guidelines encourage staggered drop-offs and pick-ups. In addition they are discouraging folks from sharing items such as toys and towels.
Lifeguards are expected to enforce social distancing so expect to hear them blowing their whistles for more than just running around the pool.
As for decor, if pools do take into consideration these guidelines expect pool furniture to be re-arranged to enforce social distancing.
Keep in mind that these are merely guidelines and not actual law so not every establishment will follow them but don’t be surprised if you’re reprimanded for not social distancing at the pool. Oh what a time to be alive.
