PECO’s Multicultural Series continues at The Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing (101 S. Columbus Blvd.) Just last month the Hispanic Festival took over the space with tons of food, music and vendors.  Now the plaza will be host to the 12th Annual ACANA African Festival, celebrating all things African. The ACANA African Festival takes place Sunday August 7th from 2 pm to 8 pm.

African music and dance artists will take center stage once again at the Acana Festival, part of the PECO Multicultural Series. This cultural event will involve 6 hours of nonstop music, food, games and activities for the whole family.

This year sing along with chart-topping performers including two of Africa’s finest: Chidinma Ekile and Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly known as 2baba Idibia. Plus, top-notch local talent such as Sharon Katz & The Peace Train, Universal African Dance & Drum Ensemble and more.

Acana was founded in 1999 as a cultural organization to support African artists and musicians in their efforts to establish themselves within the United States with the goal of preserving African culture. But due to the evolving needs of the community, Acana was incorporated as a nonprofit social service agency. ACANA serves as an ambassador for thousands of African and Caribbean immigrants in the greater Philadelphia region by offering legal services, resettlement assistance, free health screenings & health workshops, community development services, job access, advocacy in immigration policy and more.
