Southgate. Happy Hour. Get Some.
Southgate, the new Korean gastropub located at the former Tangier space at 18th and Lombard Streets, officially rolled out happy hour on Thursday. Their huge, flavorful wings have been a big hit in the early going (as has the bulgogi burger, koreancini, bibimbap — ok I’ll just stop here), but the star of the happy hour menu is no doubt the $6 Southern Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich.
Oh, they also have dessert. The misugaru shortcake was a winner out of the gate, but this week they also introduced a butterscotch pot de creme topped with a 맛동산 (salty sweet Korean candy snack) toffee. Anyways, back to business.
Happy hour runs from 5-6:30 p.m. daily (Tuesday-Sunday) and will cover the whole restaurant, outdoor seating, and bar. According to owner Peter Hwang, it may end up being just bar/outdoor seating on the weekends.
