SkyGarten Has Been Transformed into SkyLodge a Ski Resort Theme 51 Stories Up!

SkyGarten launched at the start of June and was met with stellar success and even earned Philadelphia Magazine’s Best of Philly® Best Beer Garden. Later, OktoberFest and an über-popular Hot Chocolate Bar kept this 51 st floor destination buzzing right up to one of the city’s most spectacular New Year’s Eve celebrations. Now there’s a new reason to visit SkyGarten this winter, as SkyLodge — a ski-lodge resort inspired pop-up.

“We wanted to give everyone a fun new reason to visit us with SkyLodge,” said Co-owner Mickey Rowley, who along with business partner Doug Hager of Brauhaus Schmitz tricked out the celestial bar space with a taxidermy, mounted antlers, yards of buffalo plaid, vintage skis, toboggans and other decorative items reminiscent of a classic ski lodge. Staff will be clad in Pennsylvania-based Woolrich Inc. red and black buffalo plaid.

Additionally, visitors can expect a roaring “fireplace” projected in loop on SkyLodge’s massive wall-sized screen; a menu form Chef Mark Brinton of ski-lodge favorites, Bar Manager Jesse Cornell’s now-famous spiked hot chocolate bar, a shot ski and a full array of winter beverages.

SkyLodge Menu includes: Bourbon Wings served with celery / carrots / blue cheese; Bacon and Brie Burger with caramelized onions, arugula, cider aioli, snowflake roll; Chicken & Waffles with pineapple chutney; SkyLodge Beef Stew with wild mushrooms, potatoes, carrots; Soup du Jour; Pocono Poutine —topped with provolone, roast beef and bacon gravy.

Beverages take a more wintery turn as Hefeweizens and Pilsners give way to Doppelbocks and Dunkels. Hot cocktails to include Spiked Hot Chocolate, Hot Cider, and Mulled Wine. A fun Ski Shot allows four revelers to shoot a shot at once for $20.

SkyLodge is open Wednesday-Friday, 5-10, Saturdays, 5-11 through January • and may be extended through the remainder of the winter.

* SkyLodge is open Wednesday-Fridays from 5-10pm and Saturdays from 5-11pm.

SkyGarten’s SkyLodge is not only the city’s best beer garden — it is undeniably one of the world’s highest — perched on the top of one of the city’s tallest buildings. The wildly popular beer garden is brought to you by Doug Hager and his team from Brauhaus Schmitz, joining forces with Sky Philadelphia’s hospitality-focused professionals.

Acclaimed bartender and bar manager Jesse Cornell heads the beverage program that includes craft cocktails and well-sourced wines by the glass. SkyGarten brings an eclectic line up of draft beers and multiple offerings in cans from Germany as well as local craft selections. SkyGarten at Sky Philadelphia {formerly Top of the Tower} is located at 1717 Arch Street, in the heart of Philadelphia’s business district and steps from Barnes Foundation and other attractions.
