Okay it’s time to put to give that Amazon Prime membership a rest.  While Jeff Bezos is on pace to become the first ever trillionaire, local bussineses continue to be impacted by the pandemic.  In an effort to make a difference a local entrepreneur is looking to help stimulate the Philly economy with a website that sells items exclusively from Philadelphia-based businesses.   Therefore now more excuses because you can support small businesses from the comfort of your own couch! Kasie Clifford, the co-founder of the website localphlmarket.com, was inspired to create this site after noticing that, “there wasn’t one place where I could find a variety of items made by Philly-based businesses. During these difficult times, my friends and I are all looking to do what we can to support the small businesses and creators that make this city so special.”

Local PHL Market will exclusively feature Philadelphia-based businesses and creators, bringing together some of the Philadelphia area’s most sought after brands and artists, all in one place. This allows customers access to local brands they might not have otherwise come across and allows creators and businesses the ability to cross-pollinate with other quality local brands, providing a unique experience in the Philadelphia e-commerce scene.

Kasie is also the person behind the Instagram @localphl, where she is highlighting local businesses and restaurants, especially ones that are open during quarantine. Clifford has been a resident of the Philadelphia area her whole life, the city and its local community hold a huge piece of her heart. “In the past, I wanted to support the community of small businesses and artists in Philadelphia as much as possible, but I felt like the true scope of what is available wasn’t easily found.”

“Now is a hard time for everyone, but it’s especially difficult for the small businesses that make our neighborhoods so authentic,” says Clifford, who is hoping to help alleviate some of that burden with this new site. Another perk of the online marketplace is there is always room for more! Kasie encourages any Philadelphia creator interested in selling on their site to reach out her at info@localphlmarket.com
