Schuylkill Banks are Now Offering Both Sunset & Moonlight Kayak Tours With Rental and Instructions Included

One of the city’s most unique activities is back for a another season. Each year Schuylkill Banks offers kayak tours along the river for a scenic and unique experience. As part of their tours they offer an opportunity for guests to take part in tours later in the evening for sunset and moonlight kayaking experiences.

The sunset kayak tours will kick-off June 20th and will allow kayakers to “watch the sun set while kayaking the tidal Schuylkill.” The tours which kick-off at 7:30 pm will be lead by Hidden River Outfitters and includes equipment rental, instructions on how to paddle and safely operate the kayak, and a little over an hour out on the river. The tour departs from and returns to the Walnut Street Dock. In total there will be three sunset tours with the other dates being July 18th and August 1st.

If you’re looking for more night time vibes and want to enjoy the city skyline lights, then perhaps the moonlight tours are more your speed. Also lead by Hidden River Outfitters, the moonlight tours kick-off at 8 pm (7:30 pm on some nights) and are also a little over an hour out on the river. As with the sunset tours, equipment and instructions are included as well. Moonlight kayak tours will take place June 22nd, July 20th, August 15th*, August 17th, August 29th*, and September 21st*.

Tickets are $45 per person for each tour and can be purchased at schuylkillbanks.org/events/upcoming-events Children under 12 years old are not permitted.

*7:30 pm start time.
