SUMMARY:Up Next! Youth Jam Sessions
DESCRIPTION:Up Next! is a free monthly open jam session providing a platform for Philly’s creative youth to learn\, perform\, collaborate\, and grow. Every second Saturday\, The Lounge at World Cafe Live offers an all-ages\, alcohol-free environment\, showcasing our city’s up-and-coming talent while building community across the local music scene. A rotating youth ensemble will serve as the house band\, kicking off the afternoon with a featured set including hand-selected guest artists before opening up the jam.\nProduced in collaboration between World Cafe Live and The School District of Philadelphia’s MIC’d Up initiative\, Up Next! aims to engage students in music industry careers both on and off the stage. Students will work alongside the WCL team to curate\, promote\, facilitate\, and document each session\, with opportunities in booking\, marketing\, videography\, photography\, artist relations\, hosting\, audio engineering\, backline management\, and other elements of live event production. A team of professional musicians and educators will also be on-site to facilitate performances. This program is supported by Save The Music Foundation.

DESCRIPTION:World Cafe Live is celebrating International Music Day\, June 21st\, with a FREE family Bridge Session\, an interactive\, educational music performance! Beginning at 10:30am\, families can browse our Philly partner organizations’ tables with interactive activities\, books\, local resources\, or take pictures at our paper flower booth\, after making a paper flower to add to the arrangement! At 11:30am the Bridge Session begins\, with participants getting to hear music and be led in dance from the Son Jarocho and Cumbia traditions. The show will end around 1pm. This bilingual Bridge Session\, “Fandango” is presented by Latin American fusion band Guachinagos\, and is recommended for families with children ages 5 and up. Come make music with us! \nStudents of our Bridge Sessions say: \n“My favorite memory was hearing the music we created.”\n“all of it was a good memory for me”\n“I just really enjoyed the music and the band was just really great.”\n“It made me feel so content.” \nCumbia with a Mexican Jarocho flavor\, Guachinangos features members from diverse cultural backgrounds. The band fuses Mexican son jarocho with Colombian cumbia and other Latin American rhythms. Their exciting instrumentation and electrifying stage energy invites anybody to enjoy\, sing and move to the rhythm of the music. \nBridge Sessions are our signature education programs\, welcoming participants to the venue for a fully interactive live music experience. We team up with a diverse group of artists to design immersive performances complete with professional sound and lighting. Attendees get to actively participate in live music-making and engage in a Q&A session with the artists\, leaving feeling inspired and empowered. \nWorld Cafe Live is a nonprofit independent venue dedicated to live music\, education\, and community engagement. Since opening in 2004\, World Cafe Live has been a vibrant hub for live music in Philadelphia. By supporting emerging and established artists\, creating innovative educational programs for youth and people with disabilities\, and welcoming audiences of all ages\, we have built a continuum of arts access and opportunity.

An ambassador from Maison Gautier will be on site to discuss the over 350 years of history for this iconic brand and the variances in each expression that will be sampled. The evening will start with a welcome cocktail featuring the flagship Gautier VS and then will be followed by three savory courses individually paired with Gautier VSOP\, Gautier 1755\, and Gautier XO with a finale dessert course. Gautier caters to both professional Cognac aficionados as well as consumers just being introduced to the spirit that like to experiment with new cocktail ideas. Space is very limited\, so do not wait to purchase your tickets. \nGautier Cognac is amongst the oldest Cognac houses\, with a very unique location. The story of the Gautier brand begins in 1644 in the small village of Aigre\, Charente\, when Charles Gautier\, the son of an oak merchant from the Tronçais forest\, married Jacquette Brochet\, a vineyard owner’s daughter. From this fusion between mastering wine growing and oak\, a new passion was born : the love of creating cognac. From 1700\, their grandson Louis Gautier further expanded the cognac business and contributed to the considerable growth of Maison GAUTIER. In 1755\, the family obtained a Royal warrant to produce cognac and a founding charter signed by King Louis XV. Maison GAUTIER was born. Thanks to their expertise and knowledge acquired over time\, the Gautier family decided in 1890 to settle in an ancient water mill over the Osme river\, in the small village of Aigre. The proximity to the water and the resulting humidity and temperature in the cellars gives the cognac a recognizable taste. Maison Gautier unites ancient history with a modern view of the Cognac market. \nExecutive Chef Rob Cottman’s definition of what it means to prepare great food originated from watching his father in the kitchen at a young age. Combined with lessons from his mom\, he gained the awareness and skill set to be self-reliant in any kitchen. He continued to develop an appreciation and respect for the way recipes have been preserved and passed down among cultures and families through generations. Now entering his 12th year at World Cafe Live\, Chef Rob continues to push the envelope of what can be expected for dining experiences in a live music venue. Shelton grew up attending DC public schools where he discovered his vocal talents and began singing for musicals and plays around the DMV region. While serving active duty\, Shelton utilized his voice volunteering to sing for private parties and special military events where he truly enjoyed the journey. He later found interest singing the sounds of Motown and was a great admirer of the music of his idol Marvin Gaye\, who also grew up in the Southwest community of DC. The sensual\, silky smooth voice of Shelton has given him the opportunity of a lifetime\, traveling worldwide and becoming a national artist. Heʼs currently a member of Glen Leonardʼs Temptations Revue\, The Voices of Motown\, gospel group Godʼs Miracles and a former member of Skip Mahoney and The Casuals. Shelton has had sold out shows at venues including The Blue Dolphin Seafood Bar & Grill\, Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club\, and City Winery Philadelphia.
