New Johnny Manana’s Is Opening In the Loft District

Johnny Mañana’s announces their grand opening in the heart of the Philadelphia Loft District in the Goldtex Building by Post Brothers. Starting this Friday, February 15th, Philadelphia’s newest restaurant and bar will be serving their famous five dollar Manana Classic margaritas and Mexican American fare at 315. N. 12th Street. The 4,000 square foot space features a 70-foot grand sweeping bar at the center with the surrounding interior design focused on exuding warmth and energy. The menu is fresh and flavorful with Mexican and Southwestern eats at an accessible price. Opening launch hours are Monday through Thursday, 5:00pm to Midnight, Friday and Saturday, 5:00pm to 1:00am, and Sunday, 5:00pm to 11:00pm. Starting in mid-February, look for the launch of lunch service. In early spring, look for the bar to launch happy hour, late night and expanded menu selections. “When you step inside Mañana’s we want you to leave your worries behind,” said co-owner Tim Bonnie. “Live for the moment and enjoy the party with us! Whether you are a resident in the building, a nearby neighbor or visiting us from across town, we look forward to hosting you and your friends and family.”

For the opening of the new Mañana’s, Bonnie is joined by co-owner Bianca DeSantis. Together, the pair began work on the project in late spring of 2018. The two bring back an iconic and well-known brand that dates back to the original in 2001 in East Falls. Bonnie said, “We wanted to bring back Johnny Mañana’s and take the concept to the next level. This will be one of our largest Johnny Mañana’s to date – and the space really fit the personality of what we wanted to achieve.”

Bonnie went on to explain, “The name comes from a fictional character we created, ‘Johnny,’ who lives for today. He is the life of the party with a welcoming, charismatic and adventurous personality. He lives for the day and treasures time with friends and family. Every day is a fiesta! That is our goal here – for every day to be a celebration of good times, great food and drink, and an atmosphere that matches.”

Inside the dining room, look for two top, four top, six top and large group tables throughout – with a mix of chairs and banquets. At the bar, look for 22 bar stools. For special events, space can be transformed to host over 200 people. In nice weather, look for one of the city’s largest sidewalk dining scenes with 32 seats.

VIBE

“Our goal for Johnny Mañana’s at the Goldtext Building was to create a fun and authentic atmosphere,” said Bonnie. “Tobie Warren did a great job of creating a design that pays homage to our love for Mexican culture, with bright bold colors and a Day of the Dead reverence.”

Throughout the dining room and bar, look for bold, colorful and playful artwork and designs that play on the Day of the Dead imagery with a fiesta vibe. The interior uses warm colors mixed with natural, reclaimed woods, weather textures, corrugated metals, and ambient lighting. All design items were created by Tobie Warren of Philadelphia. Some pieces also were saved and brought back from the original location – including the saloon front doors displayed on the wall.
