New BYOB Indian Restaurant “Indian Grill” Opens in Open Old City
The Indian Grill, a new BYOB restaurant located in Old City, is bringing the tastes and ambiance of Indian culture to Philadelphia. Inspired by the royal courts in India, The Indian Grill specializes in North Indian cuisine with options of Indo-Chinese food. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and can provide offsite catering, party trays to go, pick-up service, delivery, and more. The Indian Grill is a vibrant new addition to the neighborhood and will serve as the perfect destination for a multitude of Indian cuisine desires.
The Indian Grill offers time-honored Indian dishes, while using a modern and distinctive approach to both the preparation of dishes and their ingredients. With a combined experience of more than 60 years, Mangal Singh Nagra and Baldev Virdi are the dedicated owners and executive chefs behind the menu. Drawing from customs passed down through generations, Nagra and Virdi incorporate unique and subtle flavors to each dish, enhancing every dining experience. Constantly creating new items, the innovative chefs can modify and customize any dish, aiming to satisfy the palate of every customer. The passion for and commitment to authenticity to Indian culture is evident in each appetizer, lunch, dinner, homemade bread, and dessert item served.
“We are honored to join the Old City neighborhood and bring authentic Indian cuisine to the area,” says Nick B. Maneckshaw, co-owner of The Indian Grill. “We know that Philly will love our food and see how passionate we are about preparing it!”
The contemporary decor matches The Indian Grill’s authentic yet modern dining options. Daily specials include spiced to personal preference of homemade cheese, seafood, meat, and vegetable combinations. Hearty, bona fide, and varied, the lunch and dinner menu is impressive and large. Tandoori Chicken, Seekh Kabab, Chicken Makhani, and Chicken Tikka Masala remain mentionable favorites for non-vegetarians, while vegetarians can indulge in Malai Kofta, Navratan Korma, and Palak Panir. Also offering vegan options, The Indian Grill is a great match for the expanding vegan community.
