Summer officially ends on September 20th but we’re helping to close out the summer with a bang. Wooder Ice will be hosting Milkboy South Street’s (401 South St.) End of Summer Block Party on September 21st from 12 pm-8pm.
This block party not only represents the end of summer but it’s also in celebration of milestones for both brands. Milk Boy the Studio will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary while this year marks Wooder Ice’s 10 year anniversary. That’s 40 combined years of music and entertainment for Philadelphians to enjoy.
Speaking of enjoying, the End of Summer Block Party will feature some of Philly’s most talented artists and DJs including Pep Rally, Chill Moody, Sug Daniels, Greg Sover, Carla Gamble and the Funkatorium, Minka, Humiliarian, DJ Nico Oso and more.
Milkboy owners Tommy Joyer and Jamie Lokoff have been hosting the End of Summer Bock Party for several years but this year looks to be the biggest one to date. Sponsored by MidAtlanticFX, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Brown-Forman, and Jack Daniels. the block party will also feature plenty of games, vendors, activations, and of course bars to quench your thirst.
“I could not be more thrilled to celebrate the 30th anniversary of MilkBoy with a massive block party,” says founder and Pep Rally frontman, Tommy Joyer. “Being able to celebrate the scene here in Philadelphia with homegrown artists on South Street alongside our community is exciting and is what MilkBoy is about: a space that welcomes everyone and helps nurture the amazing talent here in Philadelphia. It is the ethos of our studio and our venues.”
If you’re not familiar with Milkboy Studio’s back story, back in 1994, Producer/Engineer/Musician Joyner joined forces with music composer Jamie Lokoff to establish the first incarnation of MilkBoy the Studio in North Philadelphia. In the subsequent years, the studio grew and relocated to Ardmore, PA before settling in its current home at 421 N. 7th Street, featuring five, full-service studios in the space formerly occupied by Larry Gold’s “The Studio.” MilkBoy continued to expand with two music venues – one on South Street and one in Center City on Chestnut. Both venues are booked by Rising Sun Presents, host nationally touring and local artists, and host a night during the annual Philly Music Fest.
MilkBoy the Studio has hosted sessions for artists as diverse as Dave Matthews, Meek Mill, Zach Bryan, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, James Taylor, Silk Sonic, Jazmine Sullivan, Lil’ Uzi Vert, Big Sean, Kehlani, The Hamilton Mixtape, Lana Del Rey amongst others and a plethora emerging acts from Philadelphia.
