Milk Jawn Will Be Opening a New Location in Northern Liberties This Summer

This summer Northern Liberties will be welcoming a new ice cream shop. However, it won’t be just any ice cream shop but rather locally owned Milk Jawn. As the name suggests, Milk Jawn is a Philly-based brand that was started by Amy Wilson and Ryan Miller.  The couple opened their first Milk Jawn location in East Passyunk in August 2022 to critical acclaim, regularly seeing lines out the door and sometimes down the street during their first 18 months in business. Now, the ice cream makers and business owners who began Milk Jawn as a delivery-only operation in early 2020, are poised to open their second location, which will sit in the former Just Cravings space at 946 North Second Street, next to Pera Turkish Cuisine in Northern Liberties.

Wilson said she is eying a June opening for the 900 square-foot space, which will operate similarly to the current Milk Jawn location. More details will follow in the coming weeks.

“Philly really embraced us when all we did was take online orders and delivered ice cream, and it embraced us again when we went into farmers’ markets. But now, the response we’ve gotten since opening our first brick and mortar blew away even our wildest expectations,” said Wilson. “Opening a second location was an easy decision, and we are so excited to be able to offer our ice cream to residents in both South and North Philadelphia without having to go too far.”

Milk Jawn offers a number of ice cream flavors including Tahini Fudge Swirl; Pistachio; Double Fold Vanilla; Cold Brew and Caramelized Cacao Nibs; Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch; Milk and Cookies; Malted Milk Toffee Crunch; Lemon Curd with Blueberry Basil Swirl; Chocolate Peanut Butter; and Chocolate. Vegan flavors include Tahini Fudge Swirl and Mango Sticky Rice. The company also offers seasonal flavors, including Buttermilk Peach; Caramel Apple Pie; and more. Their Earl Grey with Honeycomb won Best New Flavor for the Northeast Region, and second place nationally at the North American Ice Cream Association’s annual convention, which was held in November of 2021.

Milk Jawn, located at 1439 East Passyunk Avenue, is open Tuesday through Sunday.
