Memorial Day Will Be the Last Day to Enjoy Little Pete’s
It has been the buzz of Center City for the past year, but now the day of reckoning has finally been set. Little Pete’s the beloved Center City diner that has served Philadelphians since 1978 will cease to operate as of Monday May 29th at 11:59 pm.
Aside from serving the morning crowds Little Pete has especially been wildly popular among the late night crowds where getting a seat in the cozy diner can be task at times. However, the days of getting french toast and eggs at 3 am will soon be gone. The location will soon give way to a Hyatt Centric hotel. It seems that diners in Center City have been slowly vanishing due to new land ownerships and sky high rents. Currently the owners of Little Pete’s are paying $10,000 a month. In order for them to stay in business in Center City they will have to pay double that.
In the meantime their Art Museum location at 2401 Pennsylvania Ave. will not be affected and will run business as usual. As for the last day at Little Pete’s, owner Pete Koutroubas has suggested that there may be a block party for commemorate the last day. Stay tuned for more details.
