Laurel Hill Cemetery and The Philadelphia Film Society Announced Their Line-Up For Cinema in the Cemetery

Outdoor movie season is here and if you’re looking for a very unique experience then look no further.  The Friends of Laurel Hill and The Philadelphia Film Society (PFS) just announced the line-up for the cemetery’s annual summertime movie series, Cinema in the Cemetery. Pack a picnic, gather some friends or a date, and enjoy an evening under the stars. As the sun sets over Laurel Hill’s historic tombs, the grainy joys of the film experience will be brought to life.

The Cinema in the Cemetery kicks off in May with a special 60s rendition of the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show with a pre-show hosted by Philly’s Transylvanian Nipple Productions and shadow cast with Baltimore’s Chocolate Covered Rocky Horror. June will host a screening of one of the classic Universal Monsters, Creature From The Black Lagoon. In July for those staying away from the shore will be safe on land to check out Spielberg’s JAWS. Closing out the series will be a screening of the beloved dark comedy The Witches of Eastwick  with a special pre-screening Witches Market.

All Cinema in the Cemetery screenings take place at Laurel Hill East, 3822 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia. Limited free parking is available but guests are encouraged to take public transit or rideshares if possible. All events are outdoors and seating is BYO blankets or lawn chairs. All events will have a cash donation beer and wine bar. Tickets can be purchased online at laurelhillphl.com/calendar or at the door.
