Korea Taqueria is Opening a New Location in Olde Richmond This Spring Featuring Indoor Seating and New Menu Items
It’s been nearly two years since owner Alexander Sherack and Head Chef Rene opened the doors to Korea Taqueria in Grays Ferry and it didn’t take long before business was booming. Known for their Korean-Mexican menu featuring their signature Bulgogi Beef Birria Tacos, Korean Fried Chicken, and Burritos, Korea Taqueria has been a hit not only at their brick and mortar but also at every festival they pull up at in their food cart.
Now after two years Alex and Rene are expanding their unique eatery in Olde Richmond, just north of Fishtown. Located at 2563 Trenton Ave. the duo is transforming the old Thin & Crispy pizza shop and are slated to open their doors between late March and early April.
So what can guests expect from the new location? Well, for starters at the core it will still operate as a take out spot but there will be indoor and outdoor ledges and space for eating. “We’ll have limited window seating and stools, but there is a great skatepark and parks across the road to enjoy a bite,” Alex states. “You can expect all the same Korea Taqueria favorites like our Signature Bulgogi Beef Birria Tacos, Korean Fried Chicken, Burritos and more. We’re revamping our Bulgogi Beef Cheesesteak and got some other exciting things in the works,” he adds.
So what made them choose this location as their second home? “For the convenience of our Philly customer base who we really adore. We were approached by the old owners of Thin & Crispy Pizzeria, as they had seen what we did at our first restaurant in South West Philly in a similar neighborhood corner-takeout-restaurant kind of deal and on our end, we got DM’s weekly about a North-East location. It just made a lot of sense,” Alex describes
When the new location is complete, guests can look for running specials, competitions and giveaways. Alex went on to add, “We’re across from a skate park and basketball court, so we’re thinking “do a kickflip” or “nail a 3″ for a taco. You’ll hear about it more, so definitely follow us on IG to stay in the loop.”
