Jar Almighty Talks Art, Fashion, and His Vintage Clothing Store Odd Jar
When it comes to art and fashion, it’s pretty safe to say that they go hand-in-hand. So it’s not uncommon for artist to venture into both creative spaces. Artists become clothing designers and clothing designers venture into art. Straddling the thin line is entrepreneur Jason Alexis Ramirez, better known as Jar Almighty.
We caught up with Jar Almighty at is eclectic retail store, Odd Jar located at 3168 Richmond St. in the Port Richmond section of town. Sharing the bustling strip with Polish Markets and store fronts that have been a staple in the community for over a half a century. Looking to spice things up on the corridor, Odd Jar’s focuses mainly on vintage men’s and women’s clothing. From discontinued sportswear to classic women’s apparel and accessories.
As a testament to Jar’s approach to breaking rules, the shop doesn’t have a defined women’s and men’s section. Instead customers are able to shop and find throwback Starter jackets next to flowing gypsy skirt, custom jackets, and even furniture. Jar’s artist hand is very prevalent throughout the shop. A large painting of Pink Panther sitting on a throne holds court, while several other paintings adorn the walls.
Jar Almighty’s journey is just as compelling as his art pieces. Originally working construction, Jar Almighty knew he wanted more out of life and was yearning to express his artistic abilities. Eventually he followed his calling and has went on to become a well respected artist and business owner in Philadelphia. Check out our one-on-one interview with Jar and see why you need to get your ass over to Odd Jar ASAP.
