It’s Wedding Season and Old City District Will Be Hosting Their 3rd Annual Wedding Stroll
There are many holidays we observe throughout the year but have you ever celebrated National Wedding Planning Day? Well, for those looking to tie the knot in the near future, Old City District will be hosting their 3rd Annual Old City Wedding Stroll.
Although National Wedding Planning Day falls on March 1st this year, Old City District will host their stroll on Wednesday April 24th from 5 pm to 8 pm.
This year’s Old City Wedding Stroll will feature more than 35 individual businesses opening their doors for meet and greets, expert consultations, tastings, and of course, open houses at the city’s top bridal boutiques and custom tailors. The event is free to attend, however, registration is required and can be completed on Eventbrite.
“There are so many unique things about Old City, and as the only business improvement district in Philadelphia to host a neighborhood-wide wedding event, we’re excited to have the Wedding Stroll on that list,” said Job Itzkowitz, Executive Director of Old City District. “With the growing variety of wedding related businesses and services offered in Old City, this event showcases how Old City businesses can support every aspect of your wedding day.
Old City is home to more than 300 independently owned small businesses. Those attending the wedding stroll can explore wedding attire, florists, jewelers, restaurants, venues, wedding services, and so much more — all within a few city blocks. The Old City Wedding Stroll welcomes four new participating businesses this year, including The Papery.
“After operating our store in Midtown Village at 12th and Locust for over 10 years, we are excited to share that The Papery is returning home to Old City,” said Carlony Brandhorst, owner of The Papery. “We’ve been excited to see the wedding industry buzz build over the past few years for Old City, so as we re-evaluated where the future of our business would be, it was without a question that returning to Old City made sense.”
Those who have registered and attend the 3rd Annual Wedding Stroll will be automatically entered to win a prize on behalf of Old City District – valued at nearly $4,000. The grand prize winner of the contest will be awarded an Old City wedding gift basket brimming with stellar prizes such as a free veil with a new gown purchase from Philly Bride, a free tungsten band from Hitched, a Astaire Dance Studios, hair and makeup application from JM&CO, a VIP dinner for two aboard the Spirit of Philadelphia, and much more.
“Since Hitched opened in Philadelphia in 2019, we’ve seen the momentum of wedding-related businesses build in Old City. We’ve even been able to expand our storefront and offer more products and services, like engagement rings, as the demand has increased over the years,” said Emma Coats, Head of Retail at Hitched. “We knew unifying our businesses through activated programming could be successful, and Old City District has helped to make that happen. The Old City Wedding Stroll is a model we hope to see replicated in cities where we have other showrooms.”
