Hip Hop in the Park Returns to The Oval With Headliners DJ Tony Touch, Large Professor, Break Dancers, & More

If you remember last year we told you about Hip Hop in the Park taking over The Oval in celebration of 50 years of Hip Hop. Now the the festival that celebrates the four core elements of Hip Hop is returning on Saturday August 10th from 12 pm to 10 pm and will feature some heavy hitters in the Hop Hop community including legendary DJ Tony Touch and iconic producer Large Professor.

This free-to-attend all-day celebration will offer plenty of entertainment and activations for guests to enjoy including live graffiti, breakdancing on theRed Bull BC One Cypher floor, DJ’s, and of course MC’s to move the crowd.  Aside from Hip Hop elements being on display, guests will also get to enjoy food truck and a specially curated vendor market.

“The concept of this festival came through an event I produced before I changed the name called The “GIVEBACK.” I essentially wanted to bring that old feeling of Hip-Hop back to the essence, at the park where it started. Building community and congregating with good vibes, art(graffiti), B-boys and B-girls, Emcees and DJ’s all in one space doing what they do best and completely FREE for the community,” stated founder Chris “TAMEARTZ” Rodriquez.

Aside from the aforementioned talent, Hip Hop in the park will also feature the likes of Skeme Richards and DJ JS1, and Philly-based artists and DJs such as Reef the Lost Cause, DJ Jovi Baby, DJ Nash, Rebel Foster, and many more to fill out the billing.

“My goal is to continue to do this every year. My reason to bring it back year after year is because Philadelphia only has a few independent FREE festivals. Knowing this makes me want to have this free forever. This is one of the reasons I count of partners and sponsors to help cover some of the cost in that way I can continue to provide a professional festival,” TAMEARTZ added.

Although this event is free to check out, registration is strongly encouraged and can be done so at here.
