Frankie Negron is Headlining The Puerto Rican Festival Featuring Food Trucks, Entertainment and More
Wepa! Hispanic Heritage Month will kick-off soon, and for those looking to celebrate the Puerto Rican culture, be sure to swing by Lighthouse Field (199 E. Erie Ave.) for the Puerto Rican Festival happening Saturday September, 23rd from 12pm-8 pm.
Organized by Boricua #1 and Boricua #2 Restaurant, The Puerto Rican Festival will feature live music by salsero Frankie Negron, freestyle singers Lissette Melendez and Sweet Sensation, and Philly’s own Siangie Twins. In addition, Rumba 106.1FM, DJ Loso, Deejay Jonathan & DJ REDZ will be on-hand spinning for the crowd. For those looking to cut up on the dance floor, there will also be a salsa & bachata dance competition.
“The Puerto Rican Parade has been a staple in the city for over 60 years, but there has never been a Puerto Rican festival the day before the parade. Once the city & city officials canceled the event this year after the parade, our family’s restaurant (Boricua Restaurant) decided to take over and help this event continue but on a day that has no traffic and ample parking space, security and a family friendly atmosphere,” states Boricua #2 owner Hector Serrano.
In addition to the live acts, The Puerto Rican Festival will also have a guest appearance from Philly’s own world boxing champion Danny “Swift” Garcia as well as several food vendors and food trucks. Mechanical bull riding, face painting, and bounce houses will be available for family fun activities.
Tickets to the Puerto Rican Festival are available on Eventbrite for $5 and $10 at the door.
