Forbidden Fruit to Host Root 2 Fruit Festival at Cira Green, Featuring 100+ Artists, Live Music, Wellness Workshops, & More
Forbidden Fruit will host the third annual Root 2 Fruit festival on Saturday, September 12, from noon to 6 p.m. at Sunset Social Cira Green, located at 129 S. 30th St. The event is described as Philadelphia’s free creative wellness festival and is expected to draw more than 1,000 attendees, building on last year’s turnout of more than 600 attendees from nine states.
This year’s festival will feature more than 100 artists across multiple disciplines, including live performances, wellness workshops, art galleries and activities for all ages.
Attendees can take part in beginner-friendly wellness sessions, live music, and free massages. Free smoothies will be available from Blkberry Juice Bar, along with a mocktail happy hour presented by Salt Rim and Fruit Belt. The event will also include make-and-take arts and crafts activities from Murals on the Move and Fleisher Art Memorial’s ColorWheels program, as well as a Resource Garden connecting attendees with local health, financial and wellness organizations. A curated selection of art and wellness vendors will be presented by Forbidden Fruit and Melody Market.
Tyra “Crux” Jones-Blain, Co-Founder of Forbidden Fruit, said the festival’s continued growth reflects consistent community turnout. She said the event has evolved beyond a single-day festival into an ongoing effort to create opportunities for intergenerational wellness in Philadelphia.
Since its debut, Root 2 Fruit has drawn attendees from across the country and has been featured by the Philadelphia Inquirer, WURD Radio and Positively Philly on PHL 17.
The festival is supported by the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, The Phoenix, Urban Art Gallery, Melanated Women’s Health, PFCU, CareChoice, Univest Bank, Tru Fru, Blkberry Juice Bar, and other community partners.
Founded in 2019, Forbidden Fruit is a West Philadelphia-based creative wellness hub that has featured more than 800 artists across more than 100 events, engaging more than 9,000 attendees globally through programming that bridges art and wellness.
