Federal Donuts Just Relocated Their Flagship Shop in Center City
Federal Donuts, known for its tantalizing combination of coffee, donuts, & chicken – has relocated its Center City flagship shop to a spacious new home at 1909 Sansom Street in The Harper by Pearl Properties. Federal Donuts Center City’s new spot hosts 26 seats at counter seating plus at their signature schoolhouse desks and dining tables along with a garage door-style front window (a new donut-eating and people-watching perch). For those curious about donut making, there’s also a window into the kitchen for watching the donut robot work its magic. FedNuts’ hours are 7am – 6pm, open daily.
In November, one month after celebrating its 10th birthday, Federal Donuts opened its 10th shop and first with a patio, on the Parkway at 1776 Benjamin Franklin Parkway (corner of 18th & Cherry streets). This shop is in an iconic location and address, and on the ground floor of the recently converted Embassy Suites, now The Terrace on 18th residences.
Today’s Fancy Donut menu is Blueberry Vanilla Bean, Sticky Toffee Banana, Marble Black & White, Philly Cream, Peanut Butter Buckeye, and Lemon Ricotta. The Donut menu also features The Classics of simply glazed, classic spiced cake donuts meant for your morning coffee. The Classics are: Old Fashioned Glazed (milk glaze over classic spiced cake); Dark Chocolate Glazed (dark chocolate milk glaze over classic spiced cake); and Chocolate Old Fashioned (milk glaze over chocolate spiced cake). Also in breakfast offerings is the Breakfast Sandwich—Egg, bacon, Cooper Sharp cheese, and cherry pepper relish on a Martin’s Potato Roll—now offered all day.
The Coffee menu is the company’s recently enhanced program. FedNuts serves La Colombe coffee and now, espresso, as showcased in drinks like the Donut Latté — espresso with steamed milk that has been steeped with donuts & warm spices, and finished with a dusting of baharat. Federal Donuts’ Vietnamese Iced Coffee is brewed with Kensington-based Cáphê Roasters coffee—the 1st and only Vietnamese specialty roaster in Philly who opened their shop this Fall.
Notable on the Fried Chicken menu is the new(ish) Fried Chicken Salad—signature twice-fried chicken breast, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, & shredded cheddar cheese on a bed of romaine + your choice of dressing featuring Rooster Island (see full Chicken menu below). Also, Chicken is now offered all day.
And last, this past Thursday March 3rd, Federal Donuts’ sister restaurant, Goldie (Falafel, Fries and Tehina Shakes) also relocated their Center City flagship directly next-door to Federal Donuts at 1911 Sansom Street. Goldie Falafel hosts 22 seats at primarily counter seating. Hours are 11am – 6pm.
