Whether anchored on the wall or displayed in the round\, the works selected for Prima Materia generate visual and spatial synergies imbued with a powerful combination of subtle yet vibrant energies and symbolic archetypes. Not unlike living entities\, these works exert their agency upon us\, in a sense “arresting” our sensorial attention through their ability to convey something tangible and concrete about the ephemeral and transcendental nature of the creative impulse. \nEngaging with the alchemy of creativity through expertly crafted artworks\, Prima Materia is essentially visionary in scope. DESCRIPTION:Founded in 2006\, Tongue & Groove performs spontaneous theater – from hilarious to heartbreaking – inspired by real life experiences. \nIn October’s Secrets show\, each audience member is given an index card\, a pen\, and a provocative prompt: “Share a secret you keep.” Encouraged to answer honestly\, the audience anonymously submits their responses\, which are randomly drawn by the actors and read aloud. The ensemble then spontaneously performs a montage of funny and touching scenes & monologues inspired by their audience-collaborators’ submissions\, exploring the experiences that connect us all.
