DESCRIPTION:In 2004\, Hillary Bor and Chef Ian Moroney opened Pumpkin BYOB on a sleepy stretch of South Street with a fresh vision for cooking simply and seasonally. Now\, twenty years later\, the neighborhood is thriving\, as are farm-to-table restaurants around the city. \nTo celebrate their 20th anniversary\, Pumpkin will devote the second half of 2024 to one of Ian’s favorite ingredients: No\, not pumpkin. Cabbage! \nThey have invited over a dozen chefs from the Philadelphia area to create a dish using cabbage that reflects the style of their cooking\, heritage\, and restaurant. They’re calling them the Cabbage Patch Kids. Each dish will run for three nights only (Tuesday-Thursday) on the normal three course prix fixe menu at Pumpkin\, either as one of the appetizers or one of the entree choices. Each month will feature at least two Cabbage Patch Kid recipes\, beginning in May until the end of the year. There will be a punch card\, where diners can earn a free dinner at Pumpkin by trying eight of the cabbage dishes. \nThe first Cabbage Patch Kid was Chef Alex Yoon from Little Fish. Little Fish is the first restaurant Ian worked at when he moved from Syracuse to Philadelphia\, about 25 years ago\, back when his father owned it. Now Alex is the chef and owner and while a lot has changed\, there is definitely a throughline. Alex’s dish was a charred cabbage and pork dumpling. \nChef Alex will be joined in May by Chef Ange Branca of the newly opened Kampar. DESCRIPTION:Three esteemed soloists will join the Delaware County Symphony for its season opening performance on October 20 at Neumann University’s Meagher Theater. The program features guest soloists Nina Vieru\, Noelle Grand\, and Eugene Albulescu in a rare performance of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto. The balance of the program features works from two female composers\, Fanny Mendelssohn and Amy Beach.\nEach soloist boasts a performance career that spans multiple continents. Ms. Vieru\, who has successfully competed in more than 35 international violin competitions\, regularly serves as concertmaster for the Delaware County Symphony. Ms. Grand\, who has recently appeared as a soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia\, maintains an active career as soloist and orchestral musician with the region’s top orchestras. Mr. Albulescu\, winner of the ‘Grand Prix du Disque Liszt’\, is a Steinway artist and award-winning artist of international stature.\nThe concert opens with the energetic and spirited performance of Overture in C by Fanny Mendelssohn. Like many of her works\, the Overture was not published during Fanny’s lifetime and remained unpublished until 1994. The concert concludes with Symphony No. 2 in E minor by Amy Beach. Written in 1894\, it was the first symphony composed and published by a female American composer. The Spiritualist may find you and offer you comfort or answers\, depending on what you seek in your time of need. \nThe veil slides back as the Ceremony begins and the sound of brooding accordion fills the room even more. You are compelled towards the sound only to be greeted by The Attendant\, whose aim is to elevate your experience with us here at Graboli’s. We begin as the Deceased is revealed to us all\, even themselves. Historically themed and extraordinarily scary\, The Nevermore Haunt is unlike any haunted house you’ve ever seen! Featuring Sideshow performances including fire dancing\, strongman and fortune tellers\, free on-site parking\, concession and outdoor bar.\nDoors open at 7:00pm each night\, we stop selling tickets at 10:00pm depending on the night\, check our calendar for details.
