SUMMARY:Pumpkin "Cabbage Patch Kids"
DESCRIPTION:In 2004\, Hillary Bor and Chef Ian Moroney opened Pumpkin BYOB on a sleepy stretch of South Street with a fresh vision for cooking simply and seasonally. Now\, twenty years later\, the neighborhood is thriving\, as are farm-to-table restaurants around the city. \nTo celebrate their 20th anniversary\, Pumpkin will devote the second half of 2024 to one of Ian’s favorite ingredients: No\, not pumpkin. Cabbage! \nThey have invited over a dozen chefs from the Philadelphia area to create a dish using cabbage that reflects the style of their cooking\, heritage\, and restaurant. They’re calling them the Cabbage Patch Kids. Each dish will run for three nights only (Tuesday-Thursday) on the normal three course prix fixe menu at Pumpkin\, either as one of the appetizers or one of the entree choices. Each month will feature at least two Cabbage Patch Kid recipes\, beginning in May until the end of the year. There will be a punch card\, where diners can earn a free dinner at Pumpkin by trying eight of the cabbage dishes. \nThe first Cabbage Patch Kid was Chef Alex Yoon from Little Fish. Little Fish is the first restaurant Ian worked at when he moved from Syracuse to Philadelphia\, about 25 years ago\, back when his father owned it. Now Alex is the chef and owner and while a lot has changed\, there is definitely a throughline. Alex’s dish was a charred cabbage and pork dumpling. \nChef Alex will be joined in May by Chef Ange Branca of the newly opened Kampar. Their two cabbage dishes will celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. \nJune will see two new Cabbage Patch Kids\, celebrating Pride Month: Joncarl Lachman of Winkel and Diana Widjojo of Rice and Sambal. \nHere’s the current list of Cabbage Patch Kids: \nAlex Yoon\, Little Fish\nAlexandra Holt\, Roxanne\nAndrew Wood\, Le Virtu\nAnge Branca\, Kampar\nCarlos Aparicio\, El Chingon\nCasey Webb\, Man v Food\nChance Anies\, Tabachoy\nDiana Widjojo\, Rice & Sambal\nEli Collins\, A.Kitchen\nJoncarl Lachman\, Winkel\nKiki Aranita\, Poi Dog\nLiz Grothe\, Scampi\nLor Kats\, Saami Somi\nMelissa McGrath\, Sweet Amalia\nOmar and Cybille Tate\, Honeysuckle Prov\nPat Alfiero\, Heavy Metal\nRebecca Foxman\, Fox & Sons \nBe sure to follow Pumpkin to see the chef line up each month\, the dishes they are creating\, and an adorable cabbage patch style illustration (they may need to make some swag using these images\, they are just that cute).

SUMMARY:Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Company and Yu.S.Artistry present Two Worlds
DESCRIPTION:Known for its “inventiveness”… “interesting ideas”… “evocative imagery” and “standout performances” (Broad Street Review)\, Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Company (AMM & DCO) returns to The Performance Garage with its newest creation\, “A Shout from the Bones” conceived and choregraphed by Artistic Director Anne-Marie Mulgrew. “A Shout” is a response\, to global violence\, and the need for healing and action in today’s world. This ongoing investigation examines contemporary issues that haunt and motivate us to face our humanity. Sections explore themes of community\, loss\, resilience\, understanding\, joy\, and hope. Built on a series of eleven charged scenes and dances using props\, text\, music and projections\, audiences are invited to create their own stories\, share them\, and discover a greater understanding of ourselves and the world we live in. \nConcept/ Choreography: Anne-Marie Mulgrew\nMusic: a mix\nDancers: Em Godfrey\, Anne of classical\, contemporary\, world music\, and street and bell sounds-Marie Mulgrew (cameo appearance)\, Leslie Ann Pike\, Ava Pizzi\, Arielle Ridley\, Tori Vincent\nAMM & DCO is grateful to The Philadelphia Cultural Fund for its support.\nFor more information http://annemariemulgrewdancersco.org/ \nYu.S. Artistry will present the first half of its upcoming evening-length work\, “The Dream of Akinosuke ” which centers around the protagonist\, Akinosuke\, and his journey through his dream world. Artistic director\, Yuki Ishiguro’s newest piece will amalgamate a variety of Japanese fairy tales and mythology to create an exciting cast of characters that guide Akinousuke through his Odyssey. A profound homage to Japanese folklore\, “The Dream of Akinosuke” is a deeply allegorical representation of the human experience and a celebration of Eastern culture. Yu.S.Artistry hopes audiences will be transported through their own fantastical journey while watching this piece\, resulting in an expanded worldview. Ishiguro is lauded for his “dancer’s range- from Ballet to hip-hop-… (which) gives all his dancing a striking individuality.” (Oberon’s Grove)\nConcept/ Choreography: Yuki Ishiguro Artistic Director/Founder\nMusic: Rin Nagaya\, Armand Amar\, John Williams\, Anois\nDancers: Olivia Ishiguro Assistance Artistic Director\, Em Godfrey\, Jennifer Kane\, Anya Kress\, Kelsey Kushnir\, Arielle Ridley\, Busko Varvara\nhttps://www.yukiishiguro.com\nABOUT TWO WORLDS \nTwo Companies (AMM & DCO) and Yu.S.Artistry (YSA) collaborated to produce a full-length concert. AMM & DCO is well-established on the Philly scene. YSA is a newer company from Bucks County. Both are contemporary based companies with distinctive visions\, unique physical vocabularies and wide-ranging approaches that explore the human condition. Our goals are to create new memorable works\, share resources\, build crossover audiences\, provide more opportunities for professional dancers (you will note that Em and Arielle are in both companies). Olivia and Anya are former AMM & DCO dancers; and connect deeply with the audience.
