SUMMARY:Tipsy History: A Love Story at The Betsy Ross House
DESCRIPTION:Love is in the air at the Betsy Ross House this Valentine’s Day weekend. For the most unique date in town\, grab your plus one and join Betsy\, herself\, for Tipsy History: A Love Story Friday\, February 9 and Saturday\, February 10. \nYou’ll hear a love story for the ages when you meet a young Betsy Ross just after her elopement with her husband\, John. She faces the condemnation of her Quaker community for marrying outside her religion. Will she choose faith and family or true love? \nTickets include one handcrafted cocktail. \nThe entire experience runs about 75 minutes. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Plan to arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to check in and order your drink. Program will begin promptly. \n  \nThis event is part of a yearlong celebration of two important milestones in the life of Betsy Ross … the 250th anniversaries of both her marriage to John Ross and the opening of the couple’s upholstery shop\, which operates today using the same traditional 18th-century craftsmanship.

SUMMARY:All Beethoven by the Philadelphia Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Nathalie Stutzmann Conductor\nHaochen Zhang Piano \nBeethoven Piano Concerto No. 5 (“Emperor”)\nBeethoven Symphony No. 7 \nThe glory of Beethoven’s genius illuminates these concerts. He wrote his Fifth Piano Concerto in 1809\, as Napoleon’s army advanced upon Vienna. Trouble surrounded the composer: Increasingly deaf\, he had begun to curtail his public performances\, and with his own house hemmed in by the French forces who surrounded the city\, he was forced into hiding in his brother’s cellar. Still\, the work that emerged was one of his noblest\, from its bold opening movement through the hushed and haunting Adagio to the dazzling finale. Despite the fact that Napoleon’s boot-prints are all over the history of this work\, its “Emperor” moniker was applied years after its premiere\, more in reference to the grandeur of the music than to any specific sovereign. \nGrand and dramatic\, Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto won famous fans early: Felix Mendelssohn performed the English premiere in 1829 and Franz Liszt numbered it among his favorites. It’s performed here by internationally acclaimed pianist Haochen Zhang\, who was awarded the Gold Medal in the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Zhang recorded all of Beethoven’s piano concertos with Principal Guest Conductor Nathalie Stutzmann and the Orchestra in 2022. \nBeethoven’s Symphony No. 7 is a joyous call to dance—high-spirited\, whirling\, and lyrical. Its light-heartedness may have been influenced by a small project Beethoven had taken on around this time\, arranging Scottish\, Irish\, and Welsh folksongs for an Edinburgh music publisher. One of those songs\, “Save me from the grave and wise\,” counsels the listener: “On! my careless laughing heart\, O dearest Fancy let me find thee; Let me but from sorrow part\, And leave this moping world behind me.” No better respite from a moping world than Beethoven’s Seventh!

SUMMARY:Gautier Cognac Dinner Pairing
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us at World Cafe Live for another exclusive dinner pairing from Executive Chef Rob Cottman featuring the finest blends from Gautier Cognac. An ambassador from Maison Gautier will be on site to discuss the over 350 years of history for this iconic brand and the variances in each expression that will be sampled. The evening will start with a welcome cocktail featuring the flagship Gautier VS and then will be followed by three savory courses individually paired with Gautier VSOP\, Gautier 1755\, and Gautier XO with a finale dessert course. Gautier caters to both professional Cognac aficionados as well as consumers just being introduced to the spirit that like to experiment with new cocktail ideas. Space is very limited\, so do not wait to purchase your tickets. \nGautier Cognac is amongst the oldest Cognac houses\, with a very unique location. The story of the Gautier brand begins in 1644 in the small village of Aigre\, Charente\, when Charles Gautier\, the son of an oak merchant from the Tronçais forest\, married Jacquette Brochet\, a vineyard owner’s daughter. From this fusion between mastering wine growing and oak\, a new passion was born : the love of creating cognac. From 1700\, their grandson Louis Gautier further expanded the cognac business and contributed to the considerable growth of Maison GAUTIER. In 1755\, the family obtained a Royal warrant to produce cognac and a founding charter signed by King Louis XV. Maison GAUTIER was born. Thanks to their expertise and knowledge acquired over time\, the Gautier family decided in 1890 to settle in an ancient water mill over the Osme river\, in the small village of Aigre. The proximity to the water and the resulting humidity and temperature in the cellars gives the cognac a recognizable taste. Maison Gautier unites ancient history with a modern view of the Cognac market. \nExecutive Chef Rob Cottman’s definition of what it means to prepare great food originated from watching his father in the kitchen at a young age. Combined with lessons from his mom\, he gained the awareness and skill set to be self-reliant in any kitchen. He continued to develop an appreciation and respect for the way recipes have been preserved and passed down among cultures and families through generations. Now entering his 12th year at World Cafe Live\, Chef Rob continues to push the envelope of what can be expected for dining experiences in a live music venue. Chef Rob Cottman is excited to present the next in his series of specialized dinner pairings. Join us as we taste the rich history alongside expertly curated courses (with separate pairings for vegan diners) as you experience how the flavors are all elevated when enjoyed together.
