SUMMARY:Highlights &; Blackouts Book & Web Launch
DESCRIPTION:On July 29th\, _mixlit celebrates its first publication and second public reading with a launch party for Heather Bowlan’s debut collection\, Highlights & Blackouts. \nThe collection\, presented as an interactive web experience and chapbook\, takes poems full of cityscapes\, dirty verve\, wonder\, and queer longing\, and carves out a history. Viewers experience each poem alongside erasures completed years after its initial writing\, as well as music\, images\, and videos by the author and a wider circle of artists and friends. \n_mixlit is a performance series\, publishing imprint\, and learning space for artists interested in digital literature creation founded by Philadelphia poet Warren C. Longmire. \nThe launch reading will be held at 7 pm on July 29 at a secret rooftop location in Brewerytown\, with the address shared after ticket purchase. The program will feature readings from the project\, presented with video\, music\, and photos from the collection and created for the event. Poet and video artist Mikey Franz will perform an opening set. \nTickets to the Highlights and Blackouts launch are $5 for the event only and $15 with copy of the chapbook. All attendees receive a QR code to access the full web experience. The event is BYOB. Purchase tickets on Eventbrite.
