Sauna is Life: Sauna Culture in Finland explores the Finnish sauna tradition with a model sauna and sauna objects as well as stories\, photos\, and videos shared with us from home and abroad. To celebrate the exhibit\, ASHM will host the Finlandia Foundation National’s performer of the year\, Miska Kajanus! Miska is a Finnish-American actor\, comedian\, musician\, and filmmaker living in Los Angeles. He will present his solo show\, My Immigrant Story\, a comedic monologue in which he shares his funny\, lifelong journey from Finland to America. The event will also feature treats from the Finnish Arctic Swan Bakery.\nThis event is free to the public with light refreshments served. DESCRIPTION:Join ASHM & Liquid Alchemy Beverages for the release of our special limited-edition cider collaboration\, Rambo’s Revival – New Sweden Apple & Lingonberry Hard Cider! This cider combines historic tradition with a modern Scandinavian lingonberry twist. It’s truly unique because it features heritage Rambo apples grown on the Museum’s apple trees. This apple species traces its origins back to the early 1600s when it was brought to the New Sweden Colony by Peter Gunnarsson Rambo. \nParticipants will enjoy a delicious apple-themed spread of roasted pork loin with caramelized apples and onions\, apple and sweet potato roast\, beet & apple salad\, apple coleslaw\, and warm apple & lingonberry crisp. \nHave fun with friends throughout the evening playing a variety of apple-themed games and historical trivia! Liquid Alchemy co-founders Jeffrey Cheskin and Terri Sorantino will also give a talk about the apple cider-making process. \nThe event price includes food and one cider ticket. Additional ciders or other bar beverages can be purchased. Nonalcoholic apple cider and beverages are also available. Must be 21+ to sample Rambo’s Revival. $25 for advanced tickets and ASHM members\, $30 at the door.
