DESCRIPTION:Wayne Art Center is excited to announce the 29th anniversary of CraftForms\, the International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Fine Craft. CraftForms 2024 will debut with a ticketed Preview Party on Friday\, December 6 from 6-10pm. The exhibition will be open to the public from December 7\, 2024 through January 25\, 2025. Dedicated to enhancing the public’s awareness of fine contemporary craft\, CraftForms 2024 provides an exquisite venue for established and emerging artists to share their creative endeavors with the Wayne Art Center community and the greater Philadelphia area. Located in the Davenport Gallery\, the exhibition features work created by 102 artists from 34 states and three countries\, including Canada\, Japan\, and Taiwan. Works include basketry\, ceramics\, fiber\, furniture\, glass\, jewelry\, metal\, mixed media\, paper\, wearable art\, wood and 3D printing.

DESCRIPTION:The Philadelphia Ethical Society will host the first public screening of Apple Picking with Eve\, the latest poem video in the WeWomen series. This evocative multimedia piece delves into the interplay between history\, identity\, and memory\, challenging traditional narratives and offering new perspectives on historical memory through the voices of historic female characters and inanimate objects.\nApple Picking with Eve began as a poem over ten years ago\, and has since transformed into a complex and layered work after Moss-Vreeland created 84 pages of mixed-media artwork and translated to film. Drawing from themes of perception\, memory\, and the reframing of historical narratives\, the video explores how personal and collective identities are shaped\, recorded\, and reimagined. The exhibition comprises a series of sculptures\, furniture\, and wall tile pieces exploring human longing through the myths and spirits of the past\, blending them with symbols of the digital age and late capitalism. The collection questions how our hopes and dreams are shaped in an increasingly consumer-driven world and how power structures capitalize on our deepest desires.\nBorn and raised in Montana\, the wildness of nature and the quietude of mountains is in Liisa Nelson’s blood. In 2020\, Nelson founded Theorii Contemporary Art Space\, an experimental gallery that is currently transitioning from brick-and-mortar to a digital and pop-up-based project.
