SUMMARY:Finding Healing In The Remnants
DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate the Opening of Finding Healing in The Remnants: A Solo Exhibition by Sammy Kovnat (SKOVeS) at DVAA! \nAbout the Exhibition: What do we do with the shards of something broken—especially when the thing that’s been broken is the self? This is the question at the heart of “Finding Healing in the Remnants\,” an exhibition of work by multimedia artist Sammy Kovnat (SKOVeS) proudly presented by Da Vinci Art Alliance. Rebuilding has a reputation for being painful—but what if there were comfort to be found in the familiarity of the pieces? \n“This exhibition is an exploration of the ways in which feeling broken can transform us\, as well as the things we can do to transform ourselves through that healing process\,” says SKOVeS\, an internationally shown multimedia artist and muralist living and working in Philadelphia. Sammy received their BFA in Fine Art from Rowan University in 2016. Sammy has worked on over 30 murals in Philadelphia and prides themselves on sharing the skills they have learned while working in public art for the last seven years. They are passionate about exploring healing\, connection and warmth through a variety of mediums—especially murals\, mosaic and collage. \nFinding Healing In The Remnants will be on view in Gallery 2 at Da Vinci Art Alliance starting October 31 until November 17. The opening reception will take place on Friday\, November 1\, from 4-7 pm.

SUMMARY:Ravel by Krista Dedrick-Lai - Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:A solo exhibition by Philadelphia-based artist Krista Dedrick-Lai. \nFebruary 10 – March 23\, 2024 \nRavel is an interesting word. A contranym. It can be both a noun and a verb. It can mean both tangle and untangle. And isn’t that how life can be sometimes? We find ourselves in a great big mess. And the more we try to tease the mess apart and get everything back in order\, the more jumbled it becomes. In the end there is no reweaving the unraveled tapestry\, not really. There is simply taking the threads you have at your feet and starting again.

SUMMARY:FOUR PAINTINGS: (money for explosives) - John Thomas Emory Art Show Opening at Jet Wine Bar
DESCRIPTION:Starting from Friday\, August 4th and running through the early winter\, Sojourn’s own bartender & artist John Thomas Emory will be displaying four of his works in the indoor bar at Jet. All paintings are for sale\, with details and purchasing available through his website and $100 of each sale being donated to ATL Solidarity to assist in defending the Weelaunee forest against its razing for the construction of Cop City. John will be bartending for the opening night & serving up a special Cynar Black Manhattan signature cocktail alongside our regular bar menu\, with complimentary bites available. \nAbout the Artist: \nReminiscent of the DIY aesthetics of underground media\, this work relies on tried-and-true cut-and-paste equations combining printmaking and roughshod painting techniques. Made with mediums and surfaces more likely obtained at a hardware store\, marks are made either spontaneously or with malice aforethought resulting in a heuristic and hastened application and process. A transfer of images over multiple analog steps further skews the perception and vantage point of the viewer. Images appear and disappear\, painted over\, leaving little but the ghost of that which came before them.
