SUMMARY:Ravel by Krista Dedrick-Lai - Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:A solo exhibition by Philadelphia-based artist Krista Dedrick-Lai. \nFebruary 10 – March 23\, 2024 \nRavel is an interesting word. A contranym. It can be both a noun and a verb. It can mean both tangle and untangle. And isn’t that how life can be sometimes? We find ourselves in a great big mess. And the more we try to tease the mess apart and get everything back in order\, the more jumbled it becomes. In the end there is no reweaving the unraveled tapestry\, not really. There is simply taking the threads you have at your feet and starting again.

SUMMARY:Won't You Be My Neighbor? An Artist Round Table Discussion

DESCRIPTION:Join The Print Center and Steven CW Taylor to hear the artist and gallerist discuss his practice\, his beautiful wood-bound artist book\, his Germantown gallery space and the overarching philosophy of Ubuntu that guides his work. \nTaylor moves between photography\, printmaking and material exploration. His photographs reflect his lived experience shaped by movement\, observation and choice. In 2021\, he founded Ubuntu Fine Art\, a gallery grounded in the principle of Ubuntu – which means “I am an amalgamation of the people I’ve met along the way.” It operates as both a fine art space and a neighborhood anchor. SUMMARY:OPENING RECEPTION: Former NBA Player Now Oil Painter Neil Anthony Edwards
DESCRIPTION:From Slam Dunks to Master Strokes — Neil Anthony Edwards\, former NBA basketball player turned award-winning painter\, unveils his latest exhibition “WE ARE ALL FADING” at Morton Contemporary. NEIL WILL BE ATTENDING THE OPENING RECEPTION! \nNeil’s striking canvases transform his legendary drive on the court into a powerful canvas meditation on life’s fleeting moments and the legacies we leave behind. \nJoin us for the opening reception and meet the artist on Saturday\, November 8th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at 115 S. 13th Street\, Philadelphia PA\, 19170. \nFrom the artist: “We Are All Fading is a series that reflects on the fleeting nature of life and the importance of legacy. Each piece captures the tension between living fully in the present moment while recognizing that time is always moving us forward. The fashion worn by the figures is not just style\, but identity — a symbol of who they were in their lifetime and how they chose to express themselves. Though we are all fading\, what remains is the mark we leave behind: our stories\, our presence\, and the way we touched the world. My art in this show seeks to preserve that essence before it slips away.”

SUMMARY:First Friday March 6th @ Arch Enemy Arts
DESCRIPTION:Arch Enemy Arts invites you to join us on March 6th from 5 – 9 pm for the opening reception of five new solo exhibitions\, alongside ELIXIR II\, our March group show that’s sure to quench your thirsty imagination. All of our solo artists will be in attendance\, and Graham Yarrington plans to do a short acoustic set of music to accompany his work early on in the evening. \nExhibitions: \nIMPRESSIONS by J L King \n2/21/26 – 3/15/26 \nBay Area artist J L King combines trompe l’oeil finesse with early surrealism\, recalling painters like Magritte\, Kay Sage\, and de Chirico. As if that weren’t enough\, each piece in the series makes a protagonist of one or more composite creatures—featuring fat-bottomed pears\, potted green-people\, and one giant strawberry-fly—adding a contemporary pop humor that’s an absolute joy to behold.  \nDREAMER’S CLUTCH by Aunty Beast \n2/21/26 – 3/15/26 \nLocal puppet-master-extraordinaire Aunty Beast creates meticulously crafted plushies\, puppets\, pups\, and beasts. Each is hand-sewn\, wrought from another world\, and imbued with their own life and personality. \nASHES OF THE ASTRAL by Brian Serway \n3/6/26 – 3/29/26 \nBrian Serway illustrates black and white fantasies inspired by the mystery\, mysticism\, and folklore of his home in the Appalachian mountains. With stylistic details practically carved into (or out of) the negative space\, his drawings traverse the page with momentous shifts of darkness and scale in relatively small and contained compositions. \nINTO THE VOID by Mike Gamble \n3/6/26 – 3/29/26 \nPhilly-based painter and master printmaker\, Mike Gamble debuts his first solo exhibition of hyperrealistic and mystical oil paintings\, a number of which have been used as official posters for the band TOOL. A legend in the TOOL Army\, Gamble’s art is a lot like the band’s music—inspired by a consciousness that exists within emptiness. \nTHE CHERISHED UNKNOWN by Graham Yarrington  \n3/6/26 – 3/29/26 \nRochester-based artist Graham Yarrington illustrates translucent dreamscapes in ink and acrylic that effortlessly glow from pristine white paper. An emerging artist\, tattoo apprentice\, and poster illustrator\, with this exhibition\, Yarrington presents first-ever solo exhibition\, and the work is a triumph of skill and vision.

SUMMARY:Free art show- A Likeness Now Seen
DESCRIPTION:May 1st – June 30th \nArtist reception- May 22nd 6-9pm \nBlack Moth Gallery presents a group exhibition exploring form as subject by contemporary artists. The collection of artworks addresses issues of self-identity\, body type acceptance\, intimacy and aging. Working in various mediums from timeless practices to exploring new materials and techniques\, artists demonstrate their appreciation of the human figure. Some exercise mastery of classic renderings of the subject while others seek expressive interpretations and inspirations of the all so familiar forms\, albeit infinitely unique. \n  \nThese modern examples of a classic motif naturally register with us because what we recognize is most familiar\, a variation of the material self. These are moments in the finite life of another being\, stilled and eternalized\, sometimes venerated. A story is told\, energy is felt\, and technical skills are admired. The intimacy of engaging a portrait or figure painting will always be reflective\, enticing\, and esteemed\, from the experience the of artist to that of the viewer. \n  \nA portion of the proceeds from this show will support Domestic Violence Center of Chester County. \n  \nInvited artists: \n\nJessica Bednarcik\nMashiul Chowdhury\nKatherine Fraser\nThomas Tustin\nTony Ward\nBarbara Zanelli
