SUMMARY:Free Art Show- Rebecca Schultz- Formations: Wissahickon and Beyond
DESCRIPTION:For the month of September on view are works by Rebecca Schultz. Her showcase\, Formations: Wissahickon and Beyond explores in colorful depth the compositions under our feet and looming alongside us\, the local rock formations we overlook. There she finds poetry and history in recesses and outreaches. A beautiful statement is found through the fluidity of paint to represent the rigid structure of geology. In taking such a close examination of the quite strength we take for granted yet depend so much on\, Schultz asks us to appreciate the subtleties and learn more about ourselves. \nStop in the gallery 4 days a week to view and add to your collection. All works are also available for sale online through our site www.blackmothgallery.com. You will not want to miss out on experiencing these one of a kind works in person. \n10% of all proceeds will go to Friends of the Earth

SUMMARY:Perennial Visions VI
DESCRIPTION:This December\, support local Philadelphia artists and start your art collection with Da Vinci Art Alliance’s annual Members Exhibition\, “Perennial Visions.” From printmaking to sculpture to weaving\, the multi-disciplinary artworks on view showcase the individual talents\, perspectives\, and creative impulses that can be amplified by collective care. The exhibition will feature over 50 small works (10”X10” or smaller) by local artists intentionally designed to be accessible for the new art buyer. \nWith prices starting at $20 and a median price of $175\, this exhibition makes an art collection more achievable for the gallery-goer. On top of that\, with more of the proceeds going directly to the artist than at an average gallery\, our hope is that DVAA can minimize the barrier between artists and the support of their community\, and maximize opportunities for art appreciation and the exchange of ideas. \nThis exhibition will be on view from December 5 – December 22\, with an opening reception on Saturday\, December 7 from 4-7 pm.

SUMMARY:OPENING RECEPTION: Former NBA Player Now Oil Painter Neil Anthony Edwards
DESCRIPTION:From Slam Dunks to Master Strokes — Neil Anthony Edwards\, former NBA basketball player turned award-winning painter\, unveils his latest exhibition “WE ARE ALL FADING” at Morton Contemporary. NEIL WILL BE ATTENDING THE OPENING RECEPTION! \nNeil’s striking canvases transform his legendary drive on the court into a powerful canvas meditation on life’s fleeting moments and the legacies we leave behind. \nJoin us for the opening reception and meet the artist on Saturday\, November 8th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at 115 S. 13th Street\, Philadelphia PA\, 19170. \nFrom the artist: “We Are All Fading is a series that reflects on the fleeting nature of life and the importance of legacy. Each piece captures the tension between living fully in the present moment while recognizing that time is always moving us forward. The fashion worn by the figures is not just style\, but identity — a symbol of who they were in their lifetime and how they chose to express themselves. Though we are all fading\, what remains is the mark we leave behind: our stories\, our presence\, and the way we touched the world. My art in this show seeks to preserve that essence before it slips away.”

SUMMARY:Qualisha Wood's code_eden\, guest curated by Leandra-Juliet Kelley
DESCRIPTION:In her textile practice\, Wood brings together traditional craft techniques and contemporary technology. Her own image acts as a point of departure for works that explore racial\, sexual and gender identity as they relate to the Black femme body. Woods’ tapestries combine cybernetic and analog processes; in her work\, a pixel is equivalent to a stitch\, each stitch an analogy for the past\, present and future of Black femmehood\, both on- and off-line\, pre- and post-internet. \nWhile Wood’s tapestries blend images from social media with religious\, specifically Catholic\, iconography\, her ‘tuftings’ represent cartoon-like figures that recall the racist caricatures widespread in popular family programmes of the early-mid-20th century and beyond. As well as marking a technical shift from the artist’s tapestry pieces\, the tuftings have a distinctly different visual style. In them\, Wood adopts a naïve aesthetic that calls on the nostalgia of cartoon animations and their association with racial stereotyping to unpack notions of Black girlhood. Despite their formal simplicity\, the tuftings reveal a lurking tension drawn from the artist’s own experiences of consuming media rife with anti-Black prejudice throughout her life. Where the tapestries are absorbed in consumption and cyber culture\, the tuftings speak to inherited trauma and necessarily implicate accountability in the viewer.

SUMMARY:May 1st First Friday at NoName Gallery
DESCRIPTION:May 1st | 6–9PM \n8127 Germantown Ave\, Philadelphia\, PA\nFree parking after 6PM \nThis First Friday\, we’re bringing together two distinct but connected bodies of work—photography by Allan Ali and a focused presentation of abstract works by EZV. \nAllan Ali’s black-and-white photographs reflect on life as a series of paths—some shared\, others walked alone. Many of these images were created in moments of solitude\, where observation becomes sharper and the world feels both expansive and deeply personal. Rooted in memory and influenced by his family’s creative legacy\, his work carries a quiet sense of connection across time. \nIn a separate gallery space\, EZV’s abstract works explore the space between what we see and what we feel. Drawing from their environment\, the work layers form\, texture\, and metaphor to translate lived experience into something more internal—where memory\, identity\, and emotion intersect. \nTogether\, the exhibition moves between observation and interpretation—offering two ways of seeing the world\, side by side. \nOriginal Art for Real People \nCome through! \n

SUMMARY:Free art show- A Likeness Now Seen
DESCRIPTION:May 1st – June 30th \nArtist reception- May 22nd 6-9pm \nBlack Moth Gallery presents a group exhibition exploring form as subject by contemporary artists. The collection of artworks addresses issues of self-identity\, body type acceptance\, intimacy and aging. Working in various mediums from timeless practices to exploring new materials and techniques\, artists demonstrate their appreciation of the human figure. Some exercise mastery of classic renderings of the subject while others seek expressive interpretations and inspirations of the all so familiar forms\, albeit infinitely unique. \n  \nThese modern examples of a classic motif naturally register with us because what we recognize is most familiar\, a variation of the material self. These are moments in the finite life of another being\, stilled and eternalized\, sometimes venerated. A story is told\, energy is felt\, and technical skills are admired. The intimacy of engaging a portrait or figure painting will always be reflective\, enticing\, and esteemed\, from the experience the of artist to that of the viewer. \n  \nA portion of the proceeds from this show will support Domestic Violence Center of Chester County. \n  \nInvited artists: \n\nJessica Bednarcik\nMashiul Chowdhury\nKatherine Fraser\nThomas Tustin\nTony Ward\nBarbara Zanelli
