SUMMARY:What is American Art? An Insider’s Tour
DESCRIPTION:What makes American art American? This tour dives into that question—moving from timeless sculptures and paintings to David Lynch’s very first film and bold contemporary experiments. Along the way\, you’ll uncover stories of PAFA\, America’s first art museum and school\, and the artists who shaped over 200 years of creativity. \nTour Highlights \nSculpture Study Center – Trace the foundations of American realism through the work of William Rush\, Thomas Eakins\, and Samuel Murray—pioneers who helped define America’s first artistic identity. \nAnne Bryan Gallery & David Lynch’s First Film – Step into PAFA’s historic plaster cast collection\, once essential to every young artist’s training. Then jump forward in time to David Lynch’s Six Men Getting Sick\, the $200 short film that launched his groundbreaking career. \nIn This Academy – See this curated exhibit through the eyes of PAFA’s own students and faculty. Discover how works like Edith Longstreth Wood’s 1906 modernist paintings resonate with today’s inventive approaches. \nNew Horizons – End your journey with works by Jennifer Bartlett\, Shiva Ahmadi\, and James Brantley—artists whose voices expand and redefine American art through abstraction\, modernism\, and diverse perspectives. \nSince 1805\, PAFA has been at the center of America’s artistic story. SUMMARY:Crawl Space\, Olivia Faith Harwood
DESCRIPTION:Fuller Rosen Gallery is proud to present Crawl Space\, a new solo exhibition by Olivia Faith Harwood. At the heart of Crawl Space is an ode to the monstrous feminine—a raw and unapologetic dive into the expectations\, fears\, and generational experiences that shape Harwood’s studio practice and selfhood. Her compositional blend of memory based imagery with radiant objects imbues her haunting self-portraits with an eternal depth of mystery and ecstasy. \nJoin us for an opening reception of Crawl Space at Fuller Rosen Gallery on First Friday\, April 04 from 6-9 pm.

SUMMARY:"Secrets of the Blue Hand Girls" Book Launch with Author Rowana Miller
DESCRIPTION:Fans of queer dark academia\, this is your time: Come to H&H Books for the pub day launch of SECRETS OF THE BLUE HAND GIRLS\, from debut author Rowana Miller. \nRowana will be in conversation with Nova Ren Suma\, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of THE WALLS AROUND US\, and\, most recently\, WAKE THE WILD CREATURES. \nSECRETS OF THE BLUE HAND GIRLS and WAKE THE WILD CREATURES are available on H&H’s ecommerce site and will be available in-store\, too. More information about each title can be found on our website. \nRowana and Nova will conclude their conversation with a brief Q&A and book signing. \nRegistration is free and highly encouraged! \nAbout SECRETS OF THE BLUE HAND GIRLS: As a scholarship student at up-and-coming Manhattan prep school Davison High\, Kay knows that it would be a mistake to listen to the anonymous letter in her locker instructing her to dye her hand blue. Of course\, it would also be a mistake to pursue Zola Wolfe\, the enigmatic redhead in her Calculus class. But by the time Kay realizes that both of these decisions have the potential to destroy much more than her chance at getting into Northwestern\, she’s already told the Blue Hand Girls far too much.
