SUMMARY:Won't You Be My Neighbor? An Artist Round Table Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Levittown\, Folcroft\, Whitman Park\, Mt. Airy. \nA roundtable conversation about race\, economic status\, and where people can live. \nAlex Baker\, whose parents were the first black family to move to Folcroft\, Delaware County will be our guest speaker. Others directly connected or witness to events depicted in the exhibition may also share their experiences\, to be followed by time for questions and comments. \nEach of the communities highlighted in the Rosalind Bloom’s “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” exhibition experienced attempts at housing integration during the Civil Rights Era. \nWe invite participants to think about: \n– How and why did these experiences differ?\n– How has the discussion of issues surrounding housing equity changed over the years?\n– Are there lessons to be learned from the past? \nThis event and free and open to all.
