This model allows the festival to be rooted in artistic excellence\, access\, and collective care. \nIn addition to its five producers\, the festival is partnering with LGBTQIA+-affirming artists and allies\, local businesses\, and community organizations throughout the month\, including boom-bap jazz band Mobbluz\, Altissimo Arts\, and independent bookstores. The festival will also collaborate with mutual aid organizations doing critical work for LGBTQIA+ communities in Philadelphia\, with a different organization highlighted at each event and opportunities for audiences to learn more and contribute directly through material and monetary donations.

DESCRIPTION:The Spring 2025 term of Suzuki Pre-Twinkle will run April 5 through June 7 (no class on 4/19 and 5/24). \nPre-Twinkle Classes provide opportunities for very young children to develop basic musicianship and readiness skills for success in the Suzuki approach. A core component of Pre-Twinkle classes at Temple Music Prep is Suzuki POP (Paper Orchestra Program). Students will build a violin/viola out of everyday household items\, sing\, and move with their instruments. Students will have a variety of musical enrichment activities that mix arts and crafts with music. Students will do drills to start establishing a set of violin/viola performing skills. Students will learn instrument and bow parts plus the famous “Twinkle Variations” on their Paper violin/viola. This project points directly at this omission by making literal Room For Grief – dedicated\, intentional space where these themes are expressed\, witnessed and held in community. \nGuests are invited to walk through the rooms of a house built by grief\, woven together with the art that has helped us survive. Let our robust and diverse group of contributors show you what it is like to live\, heal\, struggle\, cope and offer sanctuary for mourning at a time where the burden of grief in daily life is overwhelming. DESCRIPTION:Profs and Pints Philadelphia presents: “Brain Stories\,” a crash course on the basics of neuroscience interspersed with surprising tales from research in the field\, with Stuart McCaughey\, who teaches courses on neuroanatomy\, neuropharmacology\, and neurological disorders as an assistant professor at the University of Delaware. \nGain insights into how our brains work\, and learn what research tells us about the causes of our behavior and the links between our brains and those of animals\, with brain expert Stuart McCaughey of the University of Delaware. \nUsing an approach that wins him and his courses rave reviews from his university’s students\, Dr. McCaughey will discuss the basic principles of his field and illustrate them by telling remarkable stories related to the history of neuroscience and the workings of the brains of human beings and animals. \nHe’ll start by taking you on a tour of the nervous system\, explaining the functions of its different parts and how various drugs alter neurochemical events. \nWe’ll look at neurological syndromes with bizarre symptoms\, at the results of fascinating science experiments\, and at the unusual effects of psilocybic mushrooms on the brain. \nWe’ll consider some of the many strange questions that have arisen as scientists have pursued their quest to understand how the brain works. Among them: Was the French Revolution triggered by a fungus with psychedelic properties? Does Parkinson’s disease cause a unique body odor?
