Skills taught include:  \n\nBody awareness skills: breathing\, blowing\, posture and how to properly hold an instrument. \n\n\nExecutive & technical: embouchure formation\, finger control & dexterity\, and basic tone production. \n\n\nMusicianship skills: singing\, playing\, moving\, improvising\, creating music of all kinds\, and reading music notation alone and with others. \n\nThe skills learned will prepare them for participation in a traditional Band program and allow them to transition to playing a full-sized band instrument with relative ease.  \nNo prior experience with instrumental music is required. Students are taught by a Master Teacher and supported by Temple University undergraduate music education and performance instrumental interns.

DESCRIPTION:Rev up for cool wheels and a hot show: There’ll be a whole lot of cool rubber burning and hot wheels churning at the 71st Annual Hero Thrill Show\, a day of fun\, tribute and tradition in the parking area of the xfinity mobile Arena (formerly the Wells Fargo Center) in South Philadelphia on Saturday September 19\, 2026. Enjoy boardwalk-style food\, fire truck rides\, daredevil\, police motorcycle stunts\, K-9 unit dogs on rescue attacks\, fire-rescue exercises 40-foot in the air\, and more. The event kicks off with a grand entrance featuring a motorcade of police\, fire and Hero Thrill Show vehicles and formal speeches by City of Philadelphia dignitaries. The carnival-style fundraiser supports the college education of children of Philadelphia police officers and firefighters who died in the line of duty. There have been about 650 police and fire personnel who perished on duty\, since the 1800s\, when official city records were first kept. Featured will be the Sound of Philadelphia music by DJ legend Bob Pantano\, performances and displays of K-9 and bicycle units\, the elite Philadelphia Police Motorcycle Highway Patrol Drill Team\, mounted police horse\, fire engines\, crime-fighting equipment by the Police Aviation Unit\, Bomb Squad\, Counter Terrorism Operations\, Marine Unit\, Firearms instructors\, Police Academy and. Families of the fallen heroes will be on hand. The international touring project makes its sole stop in the United States and aims to promote the excellence of Italian fashion and its creative industries worldwide. \nCurated by Clara Tosi Pamphili\, Italia è Moda unfolds as a theatrical stage where garments\, accessories\, and iconic objects engage in a dialogue through different moments of everyday life. The exhibition features creations by renowned Italian fashion designers\, including haute couture\, textiles\, leather goods\, footwear\, eyewear\, jewelry\, goldsmithing\, and cosmetics. Among the highlights are two original costumes from Federico Fellini’s Casanova starring Donald Sutherland\, which won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design in 1977. The exhibition is further enhanced by audiovisual content and interactive digital installations illustrating the creative processes and heritage of the participating Italian companies.
