We’re going to reference our own mental images of our remembered objects as we recreate them in paper mache. \nThis will be fun and fairly easy for all skill levels\, with a few challenging moments. Ages 5-105 would be able to handle this medium. \nStudents will sculpt a generalized form in 3 dimensions. They will mix color using acrylic paint and use 2-D color\, line and shape to define and characterize the generalized 3-D form. \nStudents will gain a sculpture that stands in for a lost object. \nTeacher Info:\nBorn 1984 in New York\, NY\, Sophie White lives and works in Philadelphia\, PA. Since adolescence in a rapidly transforming NYC at the turn of the millennium\, she has made small\, cityscape paintings from observation of familiar places at various stages of becoming unfamiliar. Colorful sculptures and experimental sound and performance work sometimes accompany her paintings\, mimicking the environment in which they were made. She holds an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and a BFA from the Cooper Union School of Art. Remaining faithful to Poe’s original text\, solo-performer William Trevino weaves poetic language with his decades of martial arts practice to create a visceral atmosphere of suspense. A 6th degree black belt in Soo Bahk Do and a veteran Poe performer\, Trevino transforms martial arts movement to embody the psychological struggles of Poe’s narrator. \n“I think of Poe’s language as a complex musical score\,” says Trevino. “My martial arts choreography doesn’t illustrate the story\, it dances to it.” \nWilliam Trevino’s work devising theatre from martial arts has been presented in NYC (including at Dixon Place and HERE Arts Center) with support from the Jerome Foundation and the Queens Arts Fund. SUMMARY:Work to Ride II Annual Arena Polo Championship
DESCRIPTION:On September 19\, 2026\, Work to Ride will host the 2nd Annual Arena Polo Championship in the Chamounix Equestrian Center in Fairmount Park. As the only organization bringing polo to Philadelphia\, this signature event celebrates the extraordinary accomplishments of Work to Ride’s student-athletes and alumni while fundraising for one of Philadelphia’s most impactful youth development organizations. Work to Ride’s Arena Polo Championship is a day of high-energy arena polo with Work to Ride alumni and local champions competing in two thrilling tournament matches. Based in the new McCausland Arena\, the action takes place just feet from spectators in the largest indoor urban riding arena in the tri-state area. In addition to the Arena Polo Championship’s exciting polo matches\, guests can expect local food trucks\, including Wokworks and The Coffee Club PHL\, a pop-up bar from MilkBoy\, and pop-up shops from Beyond Bubbles and Gail’s Amazing Cakes. Between matches\, guests can enjoy lawn games\, live DJ music and a special interactive experience from Philly Goat Project.

This hands-on session will dive into the pattern making\, construction\, and finishing of a boutique-quality accessory. \nThis workshop is for intermediate sewists who have basic machine and pattern making confidence and are ready to dive into accessory construction and professional-grade assembly. \nParticipants will learn how to construct a slouch bag\, execute professional assembly\, and master finishing techniques including inset linings\, facings\, and hardware closures. \nParticipants will walk away with a custom\, high-fashion slouch bag and the technical expertise to replicate professional accessory designs for their own handmade wardrobe.
