DESCRIPTION:Profs and Pints Philadelphia presents: “Brain Stories\,” a crash course on the basics of neuroscience interspersed with surprising tales from research in the field\, with Stuart McCaughey\, who teaches courses on neuroanatomy\, neuropharmacology\, and neurological disorders as an assistant professor at the University of Delaware. \nGain insights into how our brains work\, and learn what research tells us about the causes of our behavior and the links between our brains and those of animals\, with brain expert Stuart McCaughey of the University of Delaware. \nUsing an approach that wins him and his courses rave reviews from his university’s students\, Dr. McCaughey will discuss the basic principles of his field and illustrate them by telling remarkable stories related to the history of neuroscience and the workings of the brains of human beings and animals. \nHe’ll start by taking you on a tour of the nervous system\, explaining the functions of its different parts and how various drugs alter neurochemical events. \nWe’ll look at neurological syndromes with bizarre symptoms\, at the results of fascinating science experiments\, and at the unusual effects of psilocybic mushrooms on the brain. \nWe’ll consider some of the many strange questions that have arisen as scientists have pursued their quest to understand how the brain works. DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss another opportunity to visit Andalusia Historic House\, Gardens & Arboretum on a Saturday! Andalusia will be open Saturday\, May 30\, from 10am to 5pm\, with tours of the Historic House every 30 minutes\, as well as special programming. \n  \nAndalusia’s beloved Rose Garden will be in bloom\, with complimentary Rose Tours included in the cost of admission. Resident Rosarian Heather Schmidt will lead guests through the garden\, sharing her expertise on rose care\, providing insights into how she tends this stunning display. With over 100 varieties of roses in bloom\, you’ll be dazzled by the colors\, fragrances\, and sheer beauty. \n  \nGuests can partake in Yoga in the Gardens\, a one-hour Vinyasa Flow style yoga session led by Trina Shumsonk of Atlas Yoga & Movement. Starts at 11am. Additional ticket required. \n  \nArtist Jody Graff will be on-site throughout the day for a Q&A with guests discussing her art installation that is on view in conjunction with ‘Radical Americana\,’ organized by The Clay Studio. Graff will also have prints and other products for sale. \n  \nLastly\, don’t miss our Champagne Garden Tour at 4:30pm led by Horticulturist Kristen Biddle. Join us on the grand porch of the Big House\, overlooking the Delaware River\, for a glass of champagne and light refreshments\, followed by a guided tour of our formal gardens. Additional ticket required.
