SUMMARY:Conceived in Crisis: Pennsylvania in 1776
DESCRIPTION:The Pennsylvania Provincial Conference was held June 18–25\, 1776\, at Carpenters’ Hall in Philadelphia. The Conference had a profound impact on American public opinion and facilitated the passing of the Declaration of Independence only a few days later. The 1776 Pennsylvania Constitution was radically innovative for its time\, including a Declaration of Rights that predated the Bill of Rights and a provision that voters did not need to own property. Christopher Pearl\, scholar and author of Conceived in Crisis: The Revolutionary Creation of an American State\, will lead a discussion on the radical birth of the Keystone State. \nA number of original manuscripts from the Provincial Conference will be on view in a pop-up display just for the evening. Also\, program attendees will have the opportunity to view the exhibition Paths To Independence\, 1765-1787\, which includes significant founding documents such as the only known printer’s proof of the Declaration of Independence.

The festival will also collaborate with mutual aid organizations doing critical work for LGBTQIA+ communities in Philadelphia\, with a different organization highlighted at each event and opportunities for audiences to learn more and contribute directly through material and monetary donations.

SUMMARY:2nd Place Race
DESCRIPTION:In most races\, finishing second means you lost. In this one\, it means you won everything. \nThe 4th Annual 2nd Place Race\, created by Ed Wagner of Clubedventures\, returns to Philadelphia on June 6. And the best part? No running required. \nThe adventure kicks off at the speakeasy pub above Plays & Players Theatre\, Quig’s! Teams of any size should plan to arrive at 5:00 p.m.\, where they’ll receive their first clues and instructions before heading out into the city. From there\, the race is on. \nParticipants will travel between neighborhood bars including Devil’s Alley and City Tap House Logan Square\, completing challenges\, solving puzzles\, and collecting points along the way. But it’s not just about racking up a high score. Teams can trade\, strategize\, and outmaneuver each other in real time\, all while keeping a close eye on the leaderboard. The goal is simple: land in second place. \nIt’s a perfect night out for friend groups\, coworkers\, theater lovers\, and anyone who enjoys a little strategy with their drinks.
