SUMMARY:HARVEST SEASONAL GRILL & WINE BAR GLEN MILLS HOSTS EMMA’S SUMMER PLANT SALE BENEFITING THE BRANDYWINE VALLEY SPCA ON JULY 30
DESCRIPTION: An inspiring young volunteer and gardener brings her passion for plants and rescue dogs together \nfor a special community fundraiser \n  \nGLEN MILLS\, PA — Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar\, 549 Wilmington Pike\, Glen Mills\, will host a special summer plant sale on Thursday\, July 30\, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.\, featuring organically grown flowers\, vegetables\, and bouquets cultivated by longtime Brandywine Valley SPCA volunteer Emma Bryan. The proceeds from the event will benefit Brandywine Valley SPCA\, and support its lifesaving mission for animals in need. \nEmma’s journey with the BVSPCA began in 2018\, shortly after recovering from the resection of a brain tumor. Volunteering with dogs became a meaningful part of her healing process\, helping her rebuild strength both physically and emotionally. With a naturally calm and compassionate presence\, Emma quickly developed a strong connection with even the most challenging rescue dogs. \nThat same spring\, after discovering she had extra seedlings from her family garden\, Emma decided to hold a small plant sale to raise money for the BVSPCA. What started as a modest fundraiser has since blossomed into a remarkable annual tradition. \nNow celebrating her 9th Annual Plant Sale\, Emma has grown the event into a thriving seasonal endeavor featuring more than 4\,000 flowers and vegetable plants across nearly 200 varieties. Every plant is started from seed at her home\, watered with 100% rainwater\, and grown organically. Emma has also expanded her passion-driven business to include fresh-cut flower bouquets from her backyard micro-flower farm throughout the summer. \nIn addition to growing plants\, Emma continues to dedicate her time to animal rescue efforts as an orange-level dog volunteer with more than 700 volunteer hours at the BVSPCA. \n“We are thrilled to host this fundraiser\,” Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar owner Dave Magrogan said\, “Emma’s dedication is extraordinary\, her resilience\, compassion\, and commitment to helping animals and to growing organic plants and flowers is remarkable and aligns perfectly with the ethos of Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar which includes sourcing locally and seasonally and being a good neighbor partner in the community.” \nSince launching the fundraiser\, Emma has donated 100% of the proceeds from the first three weekends of her annual plant sale to the BVSPCA and continues to donate 10% of all ongoing plant and cut-flower sales. She is now quickly approaching her personal milestone of $20\,000 in lifetime donations to the organization. \nGuests attending the July 30 event at Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar can shop a curated selection of organically grown plants and flowers while supporting a meaningful local cause. \nFor more information about Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar\, visit harvestseasonalgrill.com or follow harvestseasonalgrill on social media. \nAbout Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar \nHarvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar is a farm-to-table restaurant concept founded by Dave Magrogan\, focusing on locally sourced\, sustainable cuisine and a menu that changes with the seasons. The brand works closely with over 75 local farms\, offers vegetarian\, vegan\, and gluten-free options\, and strives to make healthy indulgence both delicious and accessible. \n  \n### \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Free art show- A Likeness Now Seen
DESCRIPTION:May 1st – June 30th \nArtist reception- May 22nd 6-9pm \nBlack Moth Gallery presents a group exhibition exploring form as subject by contemporary artists. The collection of artworks addresses issues of self-identity\, body type acceptance\, intimacy and aging. Working in various mediums from timeless practices to exploring new materials and techniques\, artists demonstrate their appreciation of the human figure. Some exercise mastery of classic renderings of the subject while others seek expressive interpretations and inspirations of the all so familiar forms\, albeit infinitely unique. \n  \nThese modern examples of a classic motif naturally register with us because what we recognize is most familiar\, a variation of the material self. These are moments in the finite life of another being\, stilled and eternalized\, sometimes venerated. A story is told\, energy is felt\, and technical skills are admired. The intimacy of engaging a portrait or figure painting will always be reflective\, enticing\, and esteemed\, from the experience the of artist to that of the viewer. \n  \nA portion of the proceeds from this show will support Domestic Violence Center of Chester County. \n  \nInvited artists: \n\nJessica Bednarcik\nMashiul Chowdhury\nKatherine Fraser\nThomas Tustin\nTony Ward\nBarbara Zanelli

SUMMARY:Remembered Objects in Paper Mache (Spring 2)
DESCRIPTION:Class Description:\nHave you ever lost something special or maybe something special has lost its use? Your best winter hat? Your favorite VHS tape? We’re going to reference our own mental images of our remembered objects as we recreate them in paper mache. \nThis will be fun and fairly easy for all skill levels\, with a few challenging moments. Ages 5-105 would be able to handle this medium. \nStudents will sculpt a generalized form in 3 dimensions. They will mix color using acrylic paint and use 2-D color\, line and shape to define and characterize the generalized 3-D form. \nStudents will gain a sculpture that stands in for a lost object. \nTeacher Info:\nBorn 1984 in New York\, NY\, Sophie White lives and works in Philadelphia\, PA. Since adolescence in a rapidly transforming NYC at the turn of the millennium\, she has made small\, cityscape paintings from observation of familiar places at various stages of becoming unfamiliar. Colorful sculptures and experimental sound and performance work sometimes accompany her paintings\, mimicking the environment in which they were made. She holds an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and a BFA from the Cooper Union School of Art. In 2025 she was the subject of a solo exhibit at the Philadelphia International Airport\, participated in 11 group exhibitions in Philadelphia and New York and was a nominee for the Pew Fellowship. \nInstagram – @sophie6598\nWebsite – SophieCWhite.com
