To maintain order in her fantasy world\, Tinker Bell recruits a “Lost Boy” and “Wendy 2.0” for a secret mission to kill Captain Hook. These newcomers confront their own existential baggage and uncover the unsettling truths buried in Neverland’s past. \nIf none of that appeals to you\, there’s a chaos pixie tearing holes in reality with fey magic and sword-fighting lady pirates who are pissed as hell. Something for everyone! \nThe production is directed by Madison Caudullo and produced by Chelsea Cylinder. The show will run from April 10th-19th at Theatre Exile in South Philadelphia.

Space Melt Cinema will be screening Small Soldiers (1998) in collaboration with the Philadelphia Film Socity April 11th at 7pm at the Film Society Center — 1412 Chestnut Street\, Philadelphia PA. \nSmall Soldiers is\, once again\, our favorite movie. It’s what happens when a children’s toy commercial slowly mutates into a war movie. Directed by Philadelphia College of Art alumni Joe Dante\, the film begins as a harmless suburban adventure and gradually reveals itself to be something much stranger: a satire about militarism\, consumer culture\, and what would happen if (and when) we put Pentagon-grade microchips into action figures. \nDante’s best joke is the casting. The Commando Elite are voiced by actors from The Dirty Dozen\, including Tommy Lee Jones\, while the peaceful Gorgonites are played by the trio from This Is Spinal Tap: Christopher Guest\, Michael McKean\, and Harry Shearer. The warmongers sound like old war movies. The monsters sound like a rock band. Through the lens of commedia dell’arte\, Sacco and Vanzetti: A Tragedia dell ’Arte\, will highlight the absurdity of the case while being a comic foil for the tragic events of Sacco and Vanzetti’s lives.

Goldberg\, U.S. Army (Ret.)\, a highly decorated Vietnam War veteran who served two tours with the 1st Infantry Division (“The Big Red One”). A Philadelphia resident\, Goldberg went on to serve as a senior advisor in U.S. national security and diplomatic affairs following his military career. \nThe commemorative service will include prayers\, scripture readings\, and hymns dedicated to Vietnam veterans and their families. \nA community luncheon will immediately follow in Patriots Hall\, hosted by Father Tommy and featuring his popular “Revolutionary BBQ.” Admission to the service is free. DESCRIPTION:Basic Information: \nShow:  Tongue & Groove Spontaneous Theater presents:  WHO \nDates & Times:  Fridays\, Oct 3\, 10\, 17\, 24 at 8pm \nLocation:  SideQuest Theater\, 2030 Sansom St \nTickets:  sidequesttheater.com \n  \nShort Description: In their show\, WHO\, Tongue & Groove improvises scenes and monologues exploring real life experiences\, both hilarious and heartbreaking\, inspired by written responses to the question ‘who are you?\,‘ anonymously submitted by the audience. \n  \nLonger Description:  For Tongue & Groove’s show\, WHO\, each audience member is given an index card\, a pen\, and the prompt: “beneath the typical identifiers — and in just one sentence — who are you?”  Encouraged to answer honestly\, the audience anonymously submits their responses\, which are randomly drawn by the actors and read aloud. The ensemble then spontaneously performs a montage of funny and touching scenes & monologues inspired by the audience’s personal descriptions. \nMid-show\, the ensemble chooses more cards to inspire a hilarious Speed Dating Game with a special twist you’ll wish you could use on your next date!
