DESCRIPTION:Profs and Pints Philadelphia presents: “The Happiness Workshop\,” a look at what recent research and centuries of wisdom tell us about bringing more joy and contentment to our lives\, with Eric Zillmer\, professor of psychology and the director of the Happiness Lab at Drexel University. \nAre you happy? If not\, how do you get there? \nGain insights into happiness with Eric Zillmer\, an award-winning teacher who leads a creative think tank that investigates the ingredients for happiness among individual people and communities. \nYou’ll learn how the study of happiness is a growing\, evidence-based field known as positive psychology\, which aims to find solutions to happiness challenges that can bring positive change to our lives and environments. \nDr. Zillmer will discuss the meaning of happiness and its place in our lives and society. He’ll draw from recent science and great thinkers in discussing how we can increase our own happiness and well-being\, throwing out a few practical tips as well. \nHe’ll talk about whether happiness can be measured and where in our brain happiness is located. We’ll look at the influence of socializing and social media on our happiness and about the roles that music\, humor\, adversity\, and regret have in happiness research. \nDr. Zillmer will discuss what we learn about happiness from competitive sports\, and he’ll suggest ten actions that you can engage in that will make you happier. \nAmong the questions he’ll tackle: What is the happiest day of the week? Her work has appeared on WNYC\, at SXSW Film Festival\, Jacob’s Pillow\, Philadelphia Museum of Art\, The New Museum\, Edinburgh Fringe Festival\, Asian American International Film Festival and BAM “Puppets on Film” Festival. She has had the honor of performing alongside Eminem\, Mac Miller and Ani DiFranco. DESCRIPTION:This yearly fundraising event is a funny take on our Art Star CRAFT Bazaar\, though it will be nothing like that event. Over 20 of our regular crafters will be selling off their “Seconds” at huge discounts. There will be no fancy booth displays and no frills! Just a bunch of big tables piled with stuff to rummage through!The crap bazaar aims to support our artists by helping them make some income off of time spent learning and playing – an important part of the artistic process. Many of the items included in the “crap” bazaar are just that – pieces that were made as practice before the piece is perfected and placed on shop shelves and sold at craft shows. Other items are overstock\, samples\, or have been discontinued from their retail lines to make room for fresh\, new work. Some may be mishaps\, that have little cracks\, chips\, or other imperfections. Find a handmade Treasure at A GREAT PRICE. Items will be marked down AT LEAST 50% off retail prices. \n\nAnother mission of the Crap Bazaar is to give back to our community. Each year we donate 25% of the total sales from the event to two Non-Profits. This year we have chosen Philabundance and Brigid Alliance. The donation will be split between these two evenly.

ASHM continues our tradition of the annual Pea Soup Dinner hosted by The Pea Soup Committee on Saturday\, January 31\, 2026 at 5:00 pm. \nÄrtsoppa\, or Swedish yellow pea soup\, is the traditional Thursday night supper in Sweden during the winter that dates back to the medieval period. In more modern times\, pea soup is served regularly during the winter in restaurants and homes and is a common Thursday school lunch in Sweden\, often accompanied by pancakes. ASHM’s Pea Soup Dinner is served with sharp Swedish cheese\, mustard\, and bread\, with Swedish pancakes and coffee for dessert. There will also be a cash bar. Gather with friends and family to enjoy time together at the Museum. Don’t miss out on this delightful meal! \nTickets are $30 for museum members and $35 for non-members.
