Every second Saturday\, The Lounge at World Cafe Live offers an all-ages\, alcohol-free environment\, showcasing our city’s up-and-coming talent while building community across the local music scene. A rotating youth ensemble will serve as the house band\, kicking off the afternoon with a featured set including hand-selected guest artists before opening up the jam.\nProduced in collaboration between World Cafe Live and The School District of Philadelphia’s MIC’d Up initiative\, Up Next! aims to engage students in music industry careers both on and off the stage. Students will work alongside the WCL team to curate\, promote\, facilitate\, and document each session\, with opportunities in booking\, marketing\, videography\, photography\, artist relations\, hosting\, audio engineering\, backline management\, and other elements of live event production. A team of professional musicians and educators will also be on-site to facilitate performances. This program is supported by Save The Music Foundation.

DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the American Philosophical Society \nInspired by the stories in the American Philosophical Society’s 2025 exhibition\, Philadelphia\, The Revolutionary City\, this series of tours invites you to visit four important historic houses here in Philadelphia.  Each Saturday in September we will meet to learn about a different historic house and its grounds\, with knowledgeable staff at each site. A member of the APS staff will also be on hand to point out the connections between the houses\, their stories\, and the exhibition Philadelphia\, the Revolutionary City. \nOn Saturday\, September 13th\, visitors will tour Cliveden beginning at 10:30am. The tour should last about 1 hour each and will require walking\, standing\, and some stairs. Accommodations are available. Please let us know in advance if you need accommodation. \nTickets are $8 per person; advanced registration is required.

Virtually Free is a documentary about unlikely allies who partner to transform the juvenile justice system and stop mass incarceration. \nFight Until We Decay (USA\, 2024\, 9 minutes) by Ami Glazer \nIn collaboration with Youth Art & Self-empowerment Project (YASP)\, Fight Until We Decay film focuses on the experiences of formerly incarcerated youth and the historical and political contexts of youth incarceration in PA. This film amplifies YASP’s mission and illustrates the detrimental effects of youth incarceration through data and personal testimony. \nAndré Robert Lee is a filmmaker and educator who teaches filmmaking at the Germantown Friends School\, where he has developed a film program for middle and upper school students. André has also served as a professor of writing at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. André’s work has explored various topics\, from incarcerated youth and Civil Rights History to personal narratives of underrepresented communities. \nAmi Glazer is a filmmaker and writer based in West Philadelphia and was a 2021 Recipient of the Leeway x IPMF Media Artist + Activist Residency.
