Known for their masterful use of found objects and unconventional materials\, the Cylinders blend storytelling\, wit\, and technical prowess in every piece. As co-founders of Chickenscratch Jewelry\, they’ve exhibited internationally and taught at esteemed institutions such as Tyler School of Art and the National College of Art & Design in Dublin. \nCalliope symbolizes their convergence of concepts and imagery taken from Greek Mythology\, the Circus\, and Carousels. Emphasizing fantastical creatures composed of brass wind instruments combined with their fabrications\, the works are irreverent\, metaphorical\, and playful\, evoking notions of youthful wonder and discovery. This fantastical collection will feature one-of-a-kind brooches\, necklaces\, and sculptural objects —each piece invites viewers into a world of invention\, where craftsmanship becomes performance. \nThe Cylinders’ work resides in major museum collections\, including the Museum of Arts and Design (NYC)\, Racine Art Museum\, Gregg Museum of Art & Design\, and the CERF+ “Bird in Hand” Miniature Collection. They’ve been featured in significant exhibitions such as Adore/Adorn (LSU Museum of Art)\, Triptych: Life\, Love\, Death (Galerie La Joaillerie par Mazlo\, Paris)\, Blinding the Cyclops (Velvet da Vinci\, San Francisco)\, and SOFA fairs in New York and Chicago. Their work has appeared in numerous publications\, including Narrative Jewelry: Tales from the Toolbox\, Mastering Contemporary Jewelry Design\, theArt Jewelry Today and 500 series (Schiffer/Lark Books)\, Metalsmith\, and American Craft magazines. \nLisa and Scott met in 1984 as Jewelry & Metals students at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia\, bonding over music\, cigarettes\, and a mutual passion for making. Email events@theheadandthehand.com with any questions. \n  \nAbout the Book: \nThe natural enemy of a Korean is another Korean. \nWhen North Korean spymaster Doha Kim is mysteriously killed in Oxford\, his protégé\, Yohan Kim\, chases the only breadcrumb given to him in Doha’s last breath: “Soju Club\, Dr. Ryu.” In the meantime\, a Korean American CIA agent\, Yunah Choi\, races to salvage her investigation of the North Korean spy cell in the aftermath of the assassination. At the centre of it all is the Soju Club\, the only Korean restaurant in Oxford\, owned by Jihoon Lim\, an immigrant from Seoul in search of a new life after suffering a tragedy. As different factions move in with their own agendas\, their fates become entangled\, resulting in a bitter struggle that will determine whose truth will triumph. \nOXFORD SOJU CLUB weaves a tale of how immigrants in the Korean diaspora are forced to create identities to survive\, and how in the end\, they must shed those masks and seek their true selves. \nAbout the Authors: \nJinwoo Park is a Korean Canadian writer and literary translator based in Montreal. DESCRIPTION:Basic Information: \nShow:  Tongue & Groove Spontaneous Theater presents:  WHO \nDates & Times:  Fridays\, Oct 3\, 10\, 17\, 24 at 8pm \nLocation:  SideQuest Theater\, 2030 Sansom St \nTickets:  sidequesttheater.com \n  \nShort Description: In their show\, WHO\, Tongue & Groove improvises scenes and monologues exploring real life experiences\, both hilarious and heartbreaking\, inspired by written responses to the question ‘who are you?\,‘ anonymously submitted by the audience. \n  \nLonger Description:  For Tongue & Groove’s show\, WHO\, each audience member is given an index card\, a pen\, and the prompt: “beneath the typical identifiers — and in just one sentence — who are you?”  Encouraged to answer honestly\, the audience anonymously submits their responses\, which are randomly drawn by the actors and read aloud. The ensemble then spontaneously performs a montage of funny and touching scenes & monologues inspired by the audience’s personal descriptions. \nMid-show\, the ensemble chooses more cards to inspire a hilarious Speed Dating Game with a special twist you’ll wish you could use on your next date!
