SUMMARY:Basics of Drawing: Figure Drawing
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to “Figure It Out: Basics of Figure Drawing\,” your four-session workshop into the wonderful world of visual art! We’ll explore simple shapes and lines to get the ball rolling. By the end\, you’ll be sketching figures that look like people. \nSessions 2 – 4 will combine learning techniques\, such as movement\, gesture\, shading\, and texture\, with a figure model. So grab your sketchbook and let’s get drawing—because every masterpiece starts with a single line! \n*Students must bring a Newsprint sketchbook (11×14). All other supplies will be provided

SUMMARY:5 Stagehands Fall Out of a Closet (the goose crisis)
DESCRIPTION:An avante-garde model\, a professor of botanical poetry\, and a paranormal investigator walk into a bar. Ouch. \nThey proceed to the back of the Trestle Inn\, where\, hidden behind an ominous curtain\, shapeshifter Grace Lazarz unleashes a bevy of lovably grotesque characters into the intimate Go-Go purgatory. \nLazarz and director/collaborator\, Michael Amendola\, invite the audience to follow a whirligig of comic delirium while a chorus of 2 57 13 … 5 stagehands try to piece together a psyche with bubblegum and bum notes… before time runs out. \nGet your steps in\, lewk mortality in the eye(s)\, and discover the beauty of aging car mechanics and mutated pig innkeepers. “5SFOOAC(TGC)” is an absurdity that will stay with you until your cosmic punch(ouch)line. \n*Characters created by various imbalances. \n********************************** \nGenre: Comedy\, Theater \nContent Warnings: Adult Language\, Audience Interaction \nADA Accessible Venue

SUMMARY:Buen Camino
DESCRIPTION:Susan has a perfect life\, a perfect love\, and perfect happiness. When she suddenly undergoes an unexpected loss\, her perfect life ends. \nConsumed by excruciating pain\, she finds it impossible to imagine any future worth living. Until\, on an ordinary trip to the grocery store\, she hears The Voice. The trouble is\, Susan doesn’t believe in Voices. And yet\, when The Voice tells her to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain\, she obeys despite knowing nothing about this ancient pilgrimage. \nWith only her pack and her pain\, Susan begins a journey through unrelenting rain and temperatures that rarely get above 50 degrees. With the help of some improbable Spiritual Guides\, a little bit of magic\, and the Camino itself\, Susan must face her past to have any hope of creating her future. \nAlone on stage\, she becomes 23 characters to take the audience on her solitary walk through 540 miles of rain\, resentment\, and redemption. Buen Camino is a moving story about grief leading to surrender\, and ultimately to freedom.

SUMMARY:Calliope Reception & Artist Talks
DESCRIPTION:Gravers Lane Gallery proudly presents “Calliope”\, a joint jewelry exhibition between Lisa and Scott Cylinder at Gravers Lane Gallery. Join us for the first opening reception on September 5\, 2025\, from 5–8 PM\, with an artist talk at 6:30 PM. A second reception will be held on October 4\, 2025 from 5–8 PM. Come meet the artists and celebrate the magic\, meaning\, and meticulous craft of contemporary jewelry. \nLisa and Scott Cylinder are nationally acclaimed studio jewelers and educators whose narrative-driven\, mixed-media work has captivated audiences since 1998. Known for their masterful use of found objects and unconventional materials\, the Cylinders blend storytelling\, wit\, and technical prowess in every piece. As co-founders of Chickenscratch Jewelry\, they’ve exhibited internationally and taught at esteemed institutions such as Tyler School of Art and the National College of Art & Design in Dublin. \nCalliope symbolizes their convergence of concepts and imagery taken from Greek Mythology\, the Circus\, and Carousels. Emphasizing fantastical creatures composed of brass wind instruments combined with their fabrications\, the works are irreverent\, metaphorical\, and playful\, evoking notions of youthful wonder and discovery. This fantastical collection will feature one-of-a-kind brooches\, necklaces\, and sculptural objects —each piece invites viewers into a world of invention\, where craftsmanship becomes performance. \nThe Cylinders’ work resides in major museum collections\, including the Museum of Arts and Design (NYC)\, Racine Art Museum\, Gregg Museum of Art & Design\, and the CERF+ “Bird in Hand” Miniature Collection. They’ve been featured in significant exhibitions such as Adore/Adorn (LSU Museum of Art)\, Triptych: Life\, Love\, Death (Galerie La Joaillerie par Mazlo\, Paris)\, Blinding the Cyclops (Velvet da Vinci\, San Francisco)\, and SOFA fairs in New York and Chicago. Their work has appeared in numerous publications\, including Narrative Jewelry: Tales from the Toolbox\, Mastering Contemporary Jewelry Design\, theArt Jewelry Today and 500 series (Schiffer/Lark Books)\, Metalsmith\, and American Craft magazines. \nLisa and Scott met in 1984 as Jewelry & Metals students at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia\, bonding over music\, cigarettes\, and a mutual passion for making. Following years of education\, industry experience\, and graduate studies at SUNY New Paltz\, they married and founded their jewelry business in 1988. After a decade focused on production\, they shifted their energies toward one-of-a-kind art jewelry—while raising two children and renovating homes in their native Pennsylvania. \nTheir creative partnership is rooted in collaboration\, mutual respect\, and a shared aesthetic curiosity. Despite distinct approaches and personalities\, their work reflects a seamless blend of two voices into one. In 2018\, the Cylinders relocated to Maine to pursue a deeper connection to nature and a more balanced life. When not in their studio\, affectionately called “The Wedge\,” they can be found hiking\, gardening\, swimming\, cycling\, foraging mushrooms\, and exploring the natural beauty of their surroundings. \nGravers Lane Gallery is honored to host Calliope—a celebration of artistic ingenuity\, storytelling\, and the enduring wonder of wearable art.

SUMMARY:Labyrinth of the Other
DESCRIPTION:Celebrated Philadelphia performer Severin Blake premieres their first solo work\, LABYRINTH OF THE OTHER (LOTO) – a queer reimagining of the Minotaur myth. A company member of immersive theater collective Applied Mechanics\, Severin Blake has spent years meditating on this ancient Greek story – an interspecies child\, othered by the world and imprisoned in a maze. Part performance\, part immersive ritual\, LOTO asks: Who are we beneath the mask of the monster? Who gets to define what the word monster means? LOTO is a ritual container for personal and collective healing. LABYRINTH OF THE OTHER  is an intimate immersive theatrical experience led by performer Severin Blake. Audience members may choose to shape their journey from a menu of “intentions” – deciding for themselves what path they would like to take through the narrative.

SUMMARY:Philly Fringe: "BE GOOD!" WITH PAULETTE
DESCRIPTION:“BE GOOD!” WITH PAULETTE \nAn absurd character comedy show about the strangeness of good manners\, presented as part of Philly Fringe’s Cannonball Festival \nIntroducing the mildest man imaginable. Don’t ask about his black eye. \nPaulette stumbles into a theater full of the most people he’s ever seen\, and he doesn’t know whether to panic or mingle. Sporting a brown sweater and a hot-off-the-fist black eye\, he dares to approach the stage armed with nothing but an arsenal of pleasantries\, a pocketful of charm\, and a monumental fear of rejection. \nAudiences to date have described Paulette as “petite\,” “crow-like\,” and “not the sharpest\, but definitely the nicest.” With any luck\, Philly Fringe viewers will shower similar praise on his neatly combed head. \nCertified clown Daniel Maseda makes his solo debut with this unsolicited evening of giddy small talk madness that can’t help but be different every night. One thing is for certain: this show has something for anyone who just wants to scream at a polite person.
