SUMMARY:Tongue & Groove: Secrets
DESCRIPTION:Founded in 2006\, Tongue & Groove performs spontaneous theater – from hilarious to heartbreaking – inspired by real life experiences. \nIn October’s Secrets show\, each audience member is given an index card\, a pen\, and a provocative prompt: “Share a secret you keep.” Encouraged to answer honestly\, the audience anonymously submits their responses\, which are randomly drawn by the actors and read aloud. The ensemble then spontaneously performs a montage of funny and touching scenes & monologues inspired by their audience-collaborators’ submissions\, exploring the experiences that connect us all.

SUMMARY:Slayed By the Bell - Murder Mystery
DESCRIPTION:Slayed By the Bell is a murder mystery parody that takes audiences back to the halls of Bayside High — but this time\, with a deadly twist. \nTaking place at the Red Rum Theater in the heart of historic Philadelphia\, this interactive comedy follows the gang as they prepare for their graduation dance. Mr. Belding is set to crown the King and Queen — a title that now comes with a coveted scholarship. Zack is determined to win (as usual)\, Lisa is in it for the fashion\, Kelly dreams of college\, and Slater needs to cheat just to qualify. Meanwhile\, Jessie is on a mission to cancel the tradition altogether. \nBut before the night ends\, someone won’t be making it to graduation. \nAudiences are encouraged to come dressed in their best 90s gear — scrunchies\, flannel\, windbreakers\, and all — to really get into the spirit of this killer throwback event. \nSlayed By the Bell runs August 15–17\, with evening and matinee performances. Tickets are $25\, and cocktails will be available for purchase at the venue. While this is not a dinner event\, guests can expect a fast-paced\, laugh-out-loud experience filled with nostalgia\, mystery\, and 90s vibes.

SUMMARY:Old Academy Players presents Disenchanted!
DESCRIPTION:Disenchanted! By Dennis T. Giacino\nDirected by Annie Hnatko \nApril 25th\, 26th; May 2nd\, 3rd\, 4th\, 9th\, 10th\, 11th\, 2025\nFriday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m.\, Sunday at 2:00 p.m. \nPoison apples and lost slippers are just the beginning. The original storybook heroines are none-too-happy with the way they’ve been portrayed in today’s pop culture\, so they’ve tossed their tiaras and have come to life to set the record straight. Forget the princesses you think you know — these royal renegades are here to comically belt out the truth. Received an “Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical” nomination (Outer Critics Circle Awards) and a “Best New Off-Broadway Musical” nomination (Off-Broadway Alliance). \nContent Warning: Contains adult language and content.

SUMMARY:Developing a Heartfelt Practice: The Importance of Logic & Reasoning in Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Meditation can seem like a method to empty our mind of thoughts to become peaceful. This method will only work temporarily. Buddha taught how our thoughts are internal paths – when channeled in a beneficial direction\, and supported by logic and reasoning\, they can actually guide us to a stable heartfelt experience of peace and relaxation. \nThis half-day course will be guided by Gen Kelsang Wangpo\, a visiting guest teacher from Kadampa Meditation Center Texas. He will give teachings and guide meditations on the use of contemplation in a meditation practice.  \nGen Kelsang Wangpo has been a devoted student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over 20 years\, he has taught Kadampa Buddhism across the U.S. Gen Wangpo is known for his practical approach to presenting ancient Buddhist wisdom. He is deeply appreciated for his clear\, inspiring teachings and his ability to connect with others through loving-kindness and compassionate care. With particular skill in presenting profound topics in an accessible way\, Gen Wangpo helps everyone engage with Buddha’s teachings on a deeper level.

SUMMARY:PARK It!
DESCRIPTION:Let’s design our own pop-up parklet that can fit in a PARK(ing) spot for the worldwide celebration of PARK(ing) DAY. Walk away with sketches and a hand-built scale model. \nWhat is it? The number of parks throughout Philadelphia increases dramatically each year on the third Friday in September\, when activists\, artists\, architects\, and other citizens transform metered parking spaces into temporary public parks. Known as PARKing) Day\, this annual event re-imagines the possibilities of 140 square feet of public space. The event is a global\, public\, participatory project where people across the world temporarily repurpose curbside parking spaces and convert them into public parks and social spaces to advocate for safer\, greener\, and more equitable streets for people. \nHow did it start? PARK(ing) Day was founded by Rebar\, a San Francisco art and design studio\, in 2005 to raise awareness of the need for green spaces in urban environments. Philadelphia celebrated PARK(ing) Day for the first time in 2008 with over 25 installations for relaxing\, cycling\, creating art\, education\, and socializing.
