DESCRIPTION:Ilyssa and Dave Kyu are the Philly-based creators of Campfire Stories. Each volume features tales made for sharing amongst friends and family\, all connected to the diverse national parks across the United States. \nThe Kyus’ new series immerses readers in the lore of three of America’s most beloved natural spaces. \nThe Adirondacks\, Cape Cod\, and Chesapeake Bay: Tales and Travel Companion are part story collection\, part travel guide. \nEach book begins with an anthology of campfire stories: classic passages\, original poetry\, historical excerpts\, fresh perspectives\, treasured folk songs\, and local myths. \nThese tales are followed by a mini-guide to the area\, featuring community-sourced recommendations for outdoor activities\, cultural landmarks\, and historical points of interest\, as well as tips on traveling lightly and respectfully through these public lands. \nDuring their cozy evening event at H&H Books\, Dave and Ilyssa will read short excerpts from their books\, share more about their new series\, and talk about how this project came to be. SUMMARY:Theranostic Lipid Nanoparticles for Cancer Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Prof. Gang Zheng’s lab discovered porphysomes\, liposome-like nanoparticles self-assembled from a single porphyrin-lipid building block\, which enable the controlled photothermal/photoacoustic and photodynamic/fluorescence properties. Additionally\, porphysomes inherently support MRI\, PET\, SPECT\, radionuclide therapy and drug delivery. Since its discovery\, the intrinsically theranostic porphysome has trod a path towards the clinic for the past ten years and is now entering its first-in-human use.

SUMMARY:Public Archaeology at Newlin Grist Mill
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we dig into history with archaeological excavations at Newlin Grist Mill and learn more about the site through the evidence under our feet! \nThe public is invited to participate (or just watch) as Newlin Grist Mill’s professional archaeologist\, Keith Doms\, and a dedicated corps of archaeology volunteers seek to gain a deeper understanding of the site’s history through careful excavation using scientific techniques and thorough documentation. Depending on the day\, visitors might be invited to help screen excavated soil to look for small artifacts or assist with cleaning artifacts that have already been excavated. \nExcavations this season are planned for the Trimble farm complex in the Historic Area. The Trimble family built their house on the property adjoining the Mill in 1739 and\, over time\, built a whole complex of structures to support the operations of their household and farm. By conducting archaeological studies in the area around the Trimble House\, the Newlin Grist Mill staff hopes to learn more about the people who lived and worked there in the 18th\, 19th\, and early 20th centuries. \nScheduled 2025 Public Archaeology Days:\nMarch 15\nApril 19\nMay 17\nJune 21\nJuly 19\nOctober 18 – International Archaeology Day \n10am-3pm. Free and open to all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). No reservations are required. If you would like to help out with the dig\, be sure to wear clothes that can get dirty and close-toed footwear. Bring work gloves if you have them; the site has a limited number of pairs to lend.
