SUMMARY:The Somatic Jam: A Monthly Mask Practice for Artists\, Seekers\, and the Curious
DESCRIPTION:The Somatic Jam is a monthly jam for actors and artists who’ve already completed an intro mask workshop and are eager to keep the work alive. This is not a lecture space — it’s a space for exploration\, recalibration\, and deepening.\nHeld every second Sunday of the month\, these 2–3 hour sessions are a chance to tune your instrument\, reconnect with your body\, and dive into the transformative power of the mask. Each session will be different — some open and playful\, some thematic and targeted — but all rooted in the spirit of inquiry\, sensation\, and freedom.

SUMMARY:An Evening at H&H Books with Dave & Ilyssa Kyu of "Campfire Stories"
DESCRIPTION:Ilyssa and Dave Kyu are the Philly-based creators of Campfire Stories. Each volume features tales made for sharing amongst friends and family\, all connected to the diverse national parks across the United States. \nThe Kyus’ new series immerses readers in the lore of three of America’s most beloved natural spaces. \nThe Adirondacks\, Cape Cod\, and Chesapeake Bay: Tales and Travel Companion are part story collection\, part travel guide. \nEach book begins with an anthology of campfire stories: classic passages\, original poetry\, historical excerpts\, fresh perspectives\, treasured folk songs\, and local myths. \nThese tales are followed by a mini-guide to the area\, featuring community-sourced recommendations for outdoor activities\, cultural landmarks\, and historical points of interest\, as well as tips on traveling lightly and respectfully through these public lands. \nDuring their cozy evening event at H&H Books\, Dave and Ilyssa will read short excerpts from their books\, share more about their new series\, and talk about how this project came to be. Books will be available for purchase\, and a Q&A and book signing will follow. \nRegistration is free and highly encouraged\, as space is limited. \nWhether you’re planning your next road trip\, local hike\, or staycation\, Campfire Stories make for the perfect summer read.

SUMMARY:Theranostic Lipid Nanoparticles for Cancer Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Prof. Gang Zheng’s lab discovered porphysomes\, liposome-like nanoparticles self-assembled from a single porphyrin-lipid building block\, which enable the controlled photothermal/photoacoustic and photodynamic/fluorescence properties. Additionally\, porphysomes inherently support MRI\, PET\, SPECT\, radionuclide therapy and drug delivery. Since its discovery\, the intrinsically theranostic porphysome has trod a path towards the clinic for the past ten years and is now entering its first-in-human use.

Expect some of Philly’s top sports experts\, media personalities\, and influencers to judge the contest\, while prizes will be fit for foodies and phanatics alike.

SUMMARY:The Second Place Race
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the annual 2nd Place Race. The object is simple: collect just enough points – puzzles\, challenges\, games\, trading and tricking – to finish in second place! Also\, no running required! Remember: winning is more important than coming in first! \nThe hunt begins at Quig’s (1714 Delancey Street (Plays & Players\, third floor)). Doors open right at 5pm\, so teams (can be any size) should arrive 5:00pm or after. There will be a sign to ring the bell so that you can get buzzed in (then amble up to the top floor). You’ll get your info packet and then the fun starts immediately! Later\, teams travel a short distance to Devil’s Alley before finishing at City Tap Logan Square. \nAs teams solve puzzles/challenges and play games\, they begin to collect points (that can later be traded with other teams). Keep checking the leader board and see if your team can land in second place. At the end of the event (around 9:30ish) the team that ends up in second place wins!! \nSo\, grab a partner or two or more & sign up; then on the night of the hunt be sure to dress for the weather (you will be outside between bars!) & get ready to go for silver! The event is open to everyone\, but it is suggested that all team members be over 21 (all the indoor stops are bars). \nRequired items (per team): \n  \nPen or pencil \nBlack (or dark) Sharpie \nHighlighter \nSomething to write on \nFlashlight \nDevice capable of receiving text messages \nDevice capable of searching the Web \nInstalled free QR Code app on smartphone \nFunds for food\, drink & stuff \nSee past 2nd Place Races here: https://www.clubedventures.com/rallye/2PRace/2pr.htm \nThis year the hunt will benefit Paper Doll Ensemble – a feminist theatre collective whose original plays combine comedy\, dance\, theatre\, and visual art to create captivating worlds with character-driven narratives. Their “tragicomedy” style illuminates the absurdity of everyday life and our political climate. Since their inception in 2017\, PDE has been featured at Plays & Players Theatre\, the Philly Fringe Festival\, Alabama International Fringe\, and “East to Edinburgh” with 59E59 Theaters in New York.
