SUMMARY:Unicorn Wines: The Australia vs America Wine Tasting Class
DESCRIPTION:In the gentle rivalry of legendary wine regions\, the search for the elusive unicorn of wines takes center stage. This month\, we find ourselves pondering a curious match: Yeti against Yowie. These two giants\, each a maestro of their own maceration\, now stand poised in a delicate contest of body and bouquet. Across the vast expanses of vineyard-clad lands\, Australia and America prepare to engage in a refined duel. Will the venerable vintners of Barossa overcome the noble winemakers of Napa? Will Walla Walla’s quiet strength prevail against the robust offerings of Western Australia? And might Strathbogie somehow transform Sonoma’s finest into mere sangria? To unravel these mysteries\, one must simply partake. \nOur classes\, crafted with both joy and discovery in mind\, invite you to explore the distinctive styles of two prominent wine nations. “Unicorn Wines: America VS Australia” is but one chapter in a series of classes that also delves into the subtleties of France versus Italy\, France versus Greece\, Italy versus Spain\, and more.

SUMMARY:American History in 7 Bottles: The Tasting Class
DESCRIPTION:“American History in 7 Bottles” is a passageway into the nation’s past\, revealing how iconic alcoholic beverages have intertwined with the very fabric of American life. This course invites you to explore the stories nestled within each bottle\, starting with the humble colonial cider\, a testament to the resourcefulness and independence of early settlers. From there\, you’ll follow the trail of dark rum through the intricate web of the Triangle Trade\, grappling with its far-reaching economic effects and the weighty moral questions it raised. \nAs we journey westward\, American whiskey takes the stage\, embodying the ruggedness of the frontier and spotlighting the clash between federal power and local rights during the Whiskey Rebellion. The narrative moves into the late 19th century\, where lager beer\, with its roots in industrialization\, mirrors the experiences of the urban working class\, shaped by waves of immigration and the spirit of innovation. \nStepping into the 20th century\, the tale turns to Prohibition and the Jazz Age\, where the illicit gin trade stands as a symbol of cultural defiance\, marking the rise of speakeasies and the vibrant pulse of jazz. The course reaches its conclusion with California Cabernet Sauvignon\, a bottle that signals America’s emergence on the global wine stage\, celebrating the rich diversity and creativity that define modern America. \nEach tasting session is a doorway to the past\, offering historical insights and sparking lively discussions on how these beverages have not only quenched thirsts but also shaped society\, economy\, and culture. “American History in 7 Bottles” is more than a class—it’s a story of how what we drink reflects who we are\, leaving an enduring imprint on the pages of American history.

SUMMARY:Temple Theaters Presents: THE TEMPEST
DESCRIPTION:The Tempest \nBy William Shakespeare \nDirected by Douglas C Wager \nDecember 5th\, 6th\, 7th\, and 8th. \nTomlinson Theater @ 2020 N. 13th St\, Philadelphia\, PA. \nIt is such stuff as dreams are made on. For a dozen years\, isolated on an enchanted island\, Prospero has contemplated revenge on his usurper brother while caring for his daughter Miranda and studying magical texts that allow him to conjure spirits of the air and monsters of the earth. Finally\, the opportunity arises to unfurl retribution upon his enemies. But after Prospero creates a storm to shipwreck those he loathes; he must deal with the unforeseen consequences. Shakespeare’s reverie on reckoning and redemption weaves a tale of love and magic in this timeless story.

SUMMARY:The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse
DESCRIPTION:The perfect Thanksgiving play put together by a group of clueless but well-meaning educators? The result is something which ends up portraying the same clichés associated with the holiday. \nThe Thanksgiving Play\, by Larissa FastHorse\, premiered on Broadway in 2023 at the Helen Hayes Theater. The production marked the first time that a female Native American playwright had a play produced on Broadway. \nFastHorse wrote the play in response to the prevailing view that her plays were not producible because of the lack of Native American talent. The Thanksgiving Play treats issues such as underrepresentation of indigenous actors as well as shedding light on misguided attempts to represent Native Americans in American society without using any Native American actors.\n“Very\, very funny…this clever satire is something for which to be truly thankful.”\nThe Hollywood Reporter \nPerformances:\nNovember 22\, 23\, 29\, 30\, December 5\, 6 & 7 at 8 PM\nNovember 24\, December 1\, 7 & 8 at 2 PM
