DESCRIPTION:Philadelphia’s longest running holiday tour! The Holiday season is a time to relive cherished traditions\, and for Chestnut Hill\, there is no better tradition than spending a day enjoying the Christmas Holiday House tour. Our annual tour features the area’s loveliest historic homes decorated inside and out for the holidays. In recent years the tour included a charming cottage\, a stately stone colonial\, a three story Italianate Victorian\, a second empire twin\, and a Norman country house. Attendees have the option of riding our event trolley from stop to stop or visiting at their own pace in this self-guided tour. The tour is popular with both visitors and residents of Chestnut Hill\, who come every year to discover a variety of dramatic homes while experiencing our neighborhood’s rich architectural heritage. This event is a major fundraiser for the Chestnut Hill Community Association and helps us provide services to our community throughout the year.

You never know what you’ll run into. \nAlso it’s a festival with fun stuff happening 🙂 \nWrestling\, Roller Circus\, Shadow Puppets\, Play/Art space\, live music\, vendors and more!

DESCRIPTION:Celebrating Sisterhood Presents SHE SHINES Conference has emerged as Philadelphia’s premier annual women’s conference focusing on empowering\, inspiring and offering hope and opportunities by engaging women\, particularly women of color who are disenfranchised and disproportionately represented in various sectors. The focus of this women’s empowerment conference is a foundation of comprehensive topics — Civic Engagement/Voting Rights\, Health/Wellness/Safety\, Spiritual Enrichment & Networking Opportunities. The main overall goals are to heighten women’s awareness about civic engagement by empowering and mobilizing women to collectively use and exercise their power\, voice\, and voting rights. The organization also educates and provides health and self-care resources. In addition to workshops\, the She Shines Conference includes:\n– A Vendors/Resource Information Marketplace throughout the day supporting Black businesses\, especially female entrepreneurs.\n– Healthcare and mental health screenings\n– Easy access and conversations with healthcare providers\n– A relaxation-massage area.

Stop in our museum to explore the history of science education and try out cool\, quirky\, and engaging science toys and games. Indulge your inner nerd\, bring your curiosity\, and join us for a fun-filled evening of everything STEM! \nAbout Start Talking Science \nStart Talking Science is a free public event where STEM (science\, technology\, engineering\, and mathematics) researchers present nontechnical posters to the community. We aim to increase public awareness of—and interest in—cutting-edge\, local research in order to make STEM more accessible. We hope to foster insightful conversations and connections while strengthening the communication skills of researchers. \nStart Talking Science is presented in partnership with Drexel University and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute. \nAbout First Fridays \nSpark your curiosity while exploring the exhibits after hours! First Fridays bring together a myriad of activities covering everyday science\, historical oddities\, and everything in between. Grab your friends\, and kick off an evening of discovery\, surprise\, and a little nerdy fun. \nFirst Fridays at the Science History Institute are always free and open to the public.
